Development of a novel 2D position-sensitive semiconductor detector concept / Bassignana, D (CSIC) ; Fernandez, M (CSIC) ; Jaramillo, R (CSIC) ; Lozano, M (CSIC) ; Munoz, F.J (CSIC) ; Pellegrini, G (CSIC) ; Quirion, D (CSIC) ; Vila, I (CSIC)
A novel 2D position-sensitive semiconductor detector concept has been developed employing resistive electrodes in a single-sided silicon microstrip sensor. The resistive charge division method has been implemented reading out each strip at both ends, in order to get the second coordinate of an ionizing event along the strips length. [...]

First Investigation on a novel 2D position sensitive semiconductor detector concept / Bassignana, D (Barcelona, Autonoma U.) ; Fernandez, M (Cantabria Inst. of Phys.) ; Jaramillo, R (Cantabria Inst. of Phys.) ; Lozano, M (Barcelona, Autonoma U.) ; Munoz, F.J (Cantabria Inst. of Phys.) ; Pellegrini, G (Barcelona, Autonoma U.) ; Quirion, D (Barcelona, Autonoma U.) ; Vila, I (Cantabria Inst. of Phys.)
This paper presents a first study of the performance of a novel 2D position-sensitive microstrip detector, where the resistive charge division method was implemented by replacing the metallic electrodes with resistive electrodes made of polycrystalline silicon. A characterization of two proof-of-concept prototypes with different values of the electrode resistivity was carried out using a pulsed Near Infra-Red laser. [...]

Radiation resistance of double-type double-sided 3D pixel sensors / Fernandez, M (CSIC) ; Jaramillo, R (CSIC) ; Lozano, M (CSIC) ; Munoz, F.J (CSIC) ; Pellegrini, G (CSIC) ; Quirion, D (CSIC) ; Rohe, T (CSIC) ; Vila, I (CSIC)
The proposed high-luminosity upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider is expected to increase the instantaneous luminosity at the experiments' interaction points by a factor of ten. The vertex detector will be the subsystem most affected by the luminosity increase, raising substantially their occupancy and radiation-induced damage. [...]

2D position sensitive microstrip sensors with charge division along the strip: Studies on the position measurement error / Bassignana, D (CSIC) ; Curras, E (CSIC) ; Fernandez, M (CSIC) ; Jaramillo, R (CSIC) ; Lozano, M (CSIC) ; Munoz, F.J (CSIC) ; Pellegrini, G (CSIC) ; Quirion, D (CSIC) ; Vila, I (CSIC) ; Vitorero, F (CSIC)
Position sensitivity in semiconductor detectors of ionizing radiation is usually achieved by the segmentation of the sensing diode junction in many small sensing elements read out separately as in the case of conventional microstrips and pixel detectors. Alternatively, position sensitivity can be obtained by splitting the ionization signal collected by one single electrode amongst more than one readout channel with the ratio of the collected charges depending on the position where the signal was primary generated. DEPFET active pixel detectors for a future linear e+e− collider / Vos, M (CSIC et al.)
The DEPFET collaboration develops highly granular, ultra-transparent active pixel detectors for high-performance vertex reconstruction at future collider experiments. The characterization of detector prototypes has proven that the key principle, the integration of a first amplification stage in a detector-grade sensor material, can provide a comfortable signal to noise ratio of over 40 for a sensor thickness of 50-75 µm. Physical limitations to the spatial resolution of solid-state detectors / Boronat, M (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Marinas, C (Bonn U.) ; Frey, A (Göttingen U.) ; Garcia, I (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Schwenker, B (Göttingen U.) ; Vos, M (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Wilk, F (Göttingen U.)
In this paper we explore the effect of -ray emission and fluctuations in the signal deposition on the detection of charged particles in silicon-based detectors. We show that these two effects ultimately limit the resolution that can be achieved by interpolation of the signal in finely segmented position-sensitive solid-state devices

Proposal for SPS beam time for the baby MIND and TASD neutrino detector prototypes / Noah, E (Geneva U.) ; Asfandiyarov, R (Geneva U.) ; Blondel, A (Geneva U.) ; Cadoux, F (Geneva U.) ; Karadzhov, Y (Geneva U.) ; Bayes, R (Glasgow U.) ; Bogomilov, M (Sofia U.) ; Matev, R (Sofia U.) ; Tsenov, R (Sofia U.) ; Vankova-Kirilova, G (Sofia U.) et al.
The design, construction and testing of neutrino detector prototypes at CERN are ongoing activities. This document reports on the design of solid state baby MIND and TASD detector prototypes and outlines requirements for a test beam at CERN to test these, tentatively planned on the H8 beamline in the North Area, which is equipped with a large aperture magnet.
