Anisotropic flow of charged and identified particles in Pb–Pb collisions at √ s NN = 5.02 TeV with ALICE / Margutti, Jacopo (NIKHEF, Amsterdam ; Utrecht U.) /ALICE
Anisotropic flow, i.e. azimuthal anisotropies in particle production, is a key observable to characterise the properties of the Quark–Gluon Plasma (QGP), as it is sensitive to both its transport coefficients and equation of state. [...]

Multiplicity dependence of identified particle production in PP collisions with ALICE / Nayak, Kishora (NISER, Jatni) /ALICE
On behalf of the ALICE Collaboration A comprehensive measurement of the multiplicity dependence of identified particle production in proton-proton (pp) collisions is important for the understanding of small and large colliding systems. The transverse momentum (pT) dependence of particle ratios and the integrated yield ratio of various particles such as π, K, K 0 S , K * 0 , p, Λ, Ξ, Ω in pp collisions at 7 TeV are reported. [...]

Qualification of the ALICE SAMPA ASIC With a High-Speed Continuous DAQ System / Tambave, Ganesh (Bergen U.) ; Velure, Arild (Bergen U.) /ALICE
During the Long Shutdown 2 of CERN's Large Hadron Collider, foreseen to start in 2019, the ALICE experiment will upgrade its time projection chamber (TPC) detector to cope with a Pb-Pb collision rate of 50 kHz in the next running phase. In the upgraded TPC, the gas electron multiplier (GEM) technology and continuous readout will replace the existing multiwire proportional chambers and triggered readout system. [...]

Design and Test of a GBTX-Based Board for the Upgrade of the ALICE TOF Readout Electronics / Falchieri, D (INFN, Bologna) ; Antonioli, P (INFN, Bologna) ; Baldanza, C (INFN, Bologna) ; Giorgi, F M (INFN, Bologna ; U. Bologna, DIFA) ; Mati, A (CAEN, Viareggio) ; Tintori, C (CAEN, Viareggio)
In order to cope with the increased luminosity that the European Organization for Nuclear Research large hadron collider accelerator will provide after Long Shutdown 2 (2019- 2020), the a large ion collider experiment (ALICE) Time-Of-Flight (TOF) readout board data readout module is currently being redesigned. As a first step toward the final design, a test board hosting a Microsemi Igloo2 field-programmable gate array (FPGA), the radiation-hard Application-Specified Integrated Circuit (ASIC) gigabit transceiver ASIC (GBTX), and the optical transceiver versatile link transceiver (VTRX) has been designed and extensively tested. Cosmic-ray studies using the ALICE detector at LHC / Sitta, Mario (INFN, Alessandria ; Piemonte Orientale U., Alessandria) /ALICE
ALICE, a general purpose experiment designed to investigate nucleus-nucleus collisions at the CERN LHC, has also been used to detect atmospheric muons produced by cosmic-ray interactions in the atmosphere. In this contribution the analysis of the multiplicity distribution of the atmospheric muons detected by ALICE between 2010 and 2013 is presented, along with the comparison with Monte Carlo simulations. A MOdular System for Acquisition, Interface and Control (MOSAIC) of detectors and their related electronics for high energy physics experiment / De Robertis, G (INFN, Bari) ; Fanizzi, G (INFN, Bari) ; Loddo, F (INFN, Bari) ; Manzari, V (INFN, Bari) ; Rizzi, M (INFN, Bari)
In this work the MOSAIC (“MOdular System for Acquisition, Interface and Control”) board, designed for the readout and testing of the pixel modules for the silicon tracker upgrade of the ALICE (A Large Ion Collider Experiment) experiment at teh CERN LHC, is described. It is based on an Artix7 Field Programmable Gate Array device by Xilinx and is compliant with the six unit “Versa Modular Eurocard” standard (6U-VME) for easy housing in a standard VMEbus crate from which it takes only power supplies and cooling..

The upgrade of the ALICE Inner Tracking System / Ravasenga, Ivan (Turin Polytechnic ; INFN, Turin) /ALICE
In 2021, for the third run of the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC), Pb-Pb collisions will be performed at a centre-of-mass energy per nucleon of 5.5 TeV, with an integrated luminosity of $6 \times 10^{27}$ cm$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$ and at an unprecedented interaction rate up to 50 kHz. To fulfil the requirements of the ALICE physics program for Run 3, the ALICE experiment at LHC is planning a major upgrade during the Long Shutdown 2 of LHC in 2019-2020. [...]

Open heavy-flavour measurements in Pb-Pb collisions with ALICE at the LHC / Mischke, André (Utrecht U. (main)) /ALICE
The ALICE experiment has measured charm and beauty production in Pb–Pb collisions at $\sqrt{S_{\rm{NN}}}= 2.76 \text{ TeV}$ and $5.02 \text{ TeV}$, via the reconstruction of hadronic D-meson decays and semi-leptonic Dand B-meson decays. In this contribution, an overview is given on current open heavy-flavour results from ALICE ranging from the nuclear modification factor to elliptic flow measurements and on the interpretation of the data by comparing with different model calculations of in-medium energy loss..
