Performance of the CERN Proton Synchrotron internal dump: numerical simulation studies and comparison with beam measurements / Niang, S (CERN) ; Pugnat, T (CERN) ; Domange, D (Brussels U.) ; Esposito, L S (CERN) ; Giovannozzi, M (CERN) ; Gnacadja, E (Brussels U.) ; Hernalsteens, C (CERN) ; Huschauer, A (CERN) ; Tesse, R (Brussels U.)
In the framework of the LHC Injector Upgrade project, a newinternal dump for the CERN Proton Synchrotron (PS) ring has beendesigned, installed, and successfully commissioned. This device isdesigned to move rapidly into the beam and stop charged particlesover several thousand turns to provide protection to PS hardwareagainst beam-induced damage. [...]

Recent advances in the CERN PS impedance model and instability simulations following the LHC Injectors Upgrade project / Joly, S (Rome U. ; CERN) ; Oeftiger, A (Darmstadt, GSI) ; Iadarola, G (CERN) ; Zannini, C (CERN) ; Migliorati, M (Rome U.) ; Mounet, N (CERN) ; Salvant, B (CERN)
Transverse instability growth rates in the CERN ProtonSynchrotron (PS) are studied thanks to the recently updatedimpedance model of the machine. Using this model, macroparticletracking simulations were performed with a new method well-suitedfor the slicing of short wakes, which achieves comparableperformance to the originally implemented method while reducing therequired number of slices by a factor of 5 to 10. At the end of Long Shutdown 2 (LS2), in 2020 Linac4 became the new injector of CERN’s proton accelerator complex. The previous version of the Linac4 H⁻ ion source (IS03), produced an operational pulsed peak beam current of 35 mA, resulting in 27 mA after the Radio-Frequency Quadrupole (RFQ). [...]

Loss of Landau damping in double harmonic RF systems / Intelisano, Leandro
Landau damping is a natural stabilization mechanism to mitigate coherent beam instabilities. In the absence of synchrotron radiation, it plays a crucial role in hadron accelerators, representing an effective way to maintain the beam stable. [...]

Investigation on different materials after pulsed high field conditioning and low-energy H- irradiation / Serafim, C (CERN ; Helsinki U.) ; Peacock, R (CERN) ; Calatroni, S (CERN) ; Djurabekova, F (Helsinki U.) ; Perez Fontenla, A T (CERN) ; Wuensch, W (CERN) ; Sgobba, S (CERN) ; Grudiev, A (CERN) ; Lombardi, A (CERN) ; Sargsyan, E (CERN) et al.
During operation, the radio-frequency quadrupole (RFQ) of the LINAC4 at CERN is exposed to high electric fields, which can lead to vacuum breakdown. It is also subject to beam loss, which can cause surface modification, including blistering, which can result in reduced electric field holding and an increased breakdown rate. [...]
