A parametrized Kalman filter for fast track fitting at LHCb / Billoir, Pierre (Paris U., VI-VII) ; De Cian, Michel (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Günther, Paul André (Heidelberg U.) ; Stemmle, Simon (Heidelberg U.)
We present an alternative implementation of the Kalman filter employed for track fitting within the LHCb experiment. It uses simple parametrizations for the extrapolation of particle trajectories in the field of the LHCb dipole magnet and for the effects of multiple scattering in the detector material. [...]

Muon identification is of paramount importance for the physics programme of LHCb. In the upgrade phase, starting from Run 3 of the LHC, the trigger of the experiment will be solely based on software. [...]

Measurement of the electron reconstruction efficiency at LHCb / LHCb Collaboration
The single electron track-reconstruction efficiency is determined using a sample corresponding to $1.3~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$of $pp$ collision data recorded with the LHCb detector in 2017. This measurement exploits $B^+\to J/\psi (e^+e^-)K^+$ decays, where one of the electrons is fully reconstructed and paired with the kaon, while the other electron is reconstructed using only the information of the vertex detector. The muon detector of LHCb, which comprises 1368 multi-wire-proportional-chambers (MWPC) for a total area of 435 m2, is the largest instrument of its kind exposed to such a high-radiation environment. In nine years of operation, from 2010 until 2018, we did not observe appreciable signs of ageing of the detector in terms of reduced performance. [...]

Real-time discrimination of photon pairs using machine learning at the LHC / Benson, Sean (Nikhef, Amsterdam) ; Casais Vidal, Adrián (Santiago de Compostela U., IGFAE) ; Cid Vidal, Xabier (Santiago de Compostela U., IGFAE) ; Puig Navarro, Albert (Zurich U.) /LHCb Collaboration
ALP-mediated decays and other as-yet unobserved $B$ decays to di-photon final states are a challenge to select in hadron collider environments due to the large backgrounds that come directly from the $pp$ collision. We present the strategy implemented by the LHCb experiment in 2018 to efficiently select such photon pairs. [...]

A comprehensive real-time analysis model at the LHCb experiment / Aaij, R. (Nikhef, Amsterdam) ; Benson, S. (Nikhef, Amsterdam) ; De Cian, M. (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Dziurda, A. An evolved real-time data processing strategy is proposed for high-energy physics experiments, and its implementation at the LHCb experiment is presented. The reduced event model allows not only the signal candidate firing the trigger to be persisted, as previously available, but also an arbitrary set of other reconstructed or raw objects from the event. Design and performance of the LHCb trigger and full real-time reconstruction in Run 2 of the LHC / LHCb Collaboration
The LHCb collaboration has redesigned its trigger to enable the full offline detector reconstruction to be performed in real time. Together with the real-time alignment and calibration of the detector, and a software infrastructure to make persistent the high-level physics objects produced during real-time processing, this redesign enabled the widespread deployment of real-time analysis during Run 2. ReDecay: A novel approach to speed up the simulation at LHCb / Müller, D. (CERN) ; Clemencic, M. (CERN) ; Corti, G. (CERN) ; Gersabeck, M. (Manchester U.)
With the steady increase in the precision of flavour physics measurements collected during LHC Run 2, the LHCb experiment requires simulated data samples of larger and larger sizes to study the detector response in detail. The simulation of the detector response is the main contribution to the time needed to simulate full events. [...]
