Direct Drive and Eddy Current Septa Magnet Designs for CERN's PSB Extraction at 2 GeV / Szoke, Z (CERN) ; Atanasov, M G (CERN) ; Balhan, B (CERN) ; Baud, C (CERN) ; Borburgh, J (CERN) ; Hourican, M (CERN) ; Masson, T (CERN) ; Prost, A (CERN)
In the framework of the LIU project, new septa magnets have been designed between CERN's PS booster (PSB) extraction and PS injection. The upgraded devices are to deal with the increased beam energy from 1.4 to 2 GeV at extraction of the PSB. [...]

A Cryogenic Current Comparator (CCC) was developed for a non-destructive, highly sensitive monitoring of nA beams at the planned FAIR accelerator facility at GSI. The sensor part of the CCC was optimized for lowest possible noise-limited current resolution in combination with a high system bandwidth of about 200 kHz. [...]

Development of an Ionization Profile Monitor Based on a Pixel Detector for the CERN Proton Synchrotron / Storey, James (CERN) ; Bodart, Dominique (CERN) ; Dehning, Bernd (CERN) ; Levasseur, Swann (CERN) ; Pacholek, Piotr (CERN) ; Rakai, Aniko (CERN) ; Sapinski, Mariusz (CERN) ; Satou, Kenichirou (JAEA, Ibaraki) ; Schneider, Gerhard (CERN) ; Steyart, Didier (CERN)
The transverse emittance measurement in the CERN Proton Synchrotron is currently performed using fast rotational wire scanners. These scanners cannot provide continuous bunch-by-bunch measurements and the expected future increase of the beam brightness will lead to an accelerated sublimation of the wire. [...]

Progress on the HIE-ISOLDE Facility / Kadi, Yacine (CERN) ; Delruelle, Nicolas (CERN) ; Ferreira Somoza, Jose (CERN) ; Garcia Borge, Maria (CERN) ; Gayde, Jean-Christophe (CERN) ; Kautzmann, Guillaume (CERN) ; Martino, Michele (CERN) ; Rodriguez, Jose (CERN) ; Siesling, Erwin (CERN) ; Valdarno, Luca (CERN) et al.
After 20 years of successful ISOLDE operation at the PS-Booster*, a major upgrade of the facility, the HIE-ISOLDE (High Intensity and Energy ISOLDE) project was launched in 2010. It is divided into three parts; a staged upgrade of the REX post-accelerator to increase the beam energy from 3.3 MeV/u to 10 MeV/u using a super-conducting linac, an evaluation of the critical issues associated with an increase in proton-beam intensity and a machine design for an improvement in RIB quality. ISOLDE at CERN is a leading radioactive ion beam facility. With its upgrade, the HIE-ISOLDE project, an increase in primary beam intensity and energy is envisaged and the aim is a significant increase in intensity of the exotic beams. [...]
