What is your favourite particle and why? / Wiener, J (CERN) ; Woithe, J (CERN)
We have conducted a large-scale international study with high-school teachers (N=530) and high-school students (N=959) from all around the world to investigate and document what they consider as their favourite particles. We found five particles to be highly prominent in both groups, namely the Higgs boson, the neutrino, the electron, the photon and the gluon [...]

Measurement of heavy-flavour production, correlations and jets with ALICE / Sakai, Shingo (Tsukuba U., GSPAS) /ALICE Collaboration
In this article, recent ALICE measurements of the RAA and v2 of electrons at mid-rapidity (|y|<0.6) and muons at forward rapidity (2.5<y<4), from semi-leptonic decays of heavy-flavour hadrons in Pb–Pb collisions at = 5.02 TeV are shown. The results of D-tagged jet production cross-section in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ =7 TeV are presented. [...]

Luminosity Performance of the Compact Linear Collider at 380 GeV with Static and Dynamic Imperfections / Gohil, C. (JAI, UK ; CERN) ; Burrows, P.N. (JAI, UK) ; Blaskovic Kraljevic, N. (CERN) ; Latina, A. (CERN) ; Ögren, J. (CERN) ; Schulte, D. (CERN)
The Compact Linear Collider is one of the two main European options for a collider in a post Large Hadron Collider era. This is a linear $e^+e^-$ collider with three centre-of-mass energy stages: 380 GeV, 1.5 TeV and 3 TeV. [...]

Photoproduction of axionlike particles in the NA64 experiment / Dusaev, R.R. (Tomsk State U.) ; Kirpichnikov, D.V. (Moscow, INR) ; Kirsanov, M.M. (Moscow, INR)
Axion-like particles $a$ (ALPs) that couple to the Standard Model (SM) gauge fields could be observed in the high-energy photon scattering $\gamma N\to N a$ off nuclei followed by the $a\to \gamma\gamma$ decay. In the present paper we describe the calculation of the ALP production cross-section and the properties of this production. [...]

Radiation campaign of HPK prototype LGAD sensors for the High-Granularity Timing Detector (HGTD)Radiation Campaign of HPK Prototype LGAD sensors for the High-Granularity Timing Detector (HGTD) / Shi, X. (Beijing, Inst. High Energy Phys.) ; Ayoub, M.K. (Beijing, Inst. High Energy Phys.) ; da Costa, J. Barreiro Guimarães (Beijing, Inst. High Energy Phys.) ; Cui, H. (Beijing, Inst. We report on the results of a radiation campaign with neutrons and protons of Low Gain Avalanche Detectors (LGAD) produced by Hamamatsu (HPK) as prototypes for the High-Granularity Timing Detector (HGTD) in ATLAS. Sensors with an active thickness of 50~$\mu$m were irradiated in steps of roughly 2$\times$ up to a fluence of $3\times10^{15}~\mathrm{n_{eq}cm^{-2}}$. [...]

U.) ; Gong, Datao (Southern Methodist U.) ; Guo, Di (Hua-Zhong Normal U., LQLP ; Southern Methodist U.) ; He, Huiqin (SZPT, Shenzhen) ; Hou, Suen (Taiwan, Inst. Phys.) ; Liu, Chonghan (Southern Methodist U.) ; Liu, Tiankuan (Southern Methodist U.) et al.
A serializer ASIC and a VCSEL driver ASIC are needed for the front-end optical data transmission in the ATLAS liquid argon calorimeter readout phase-I upgrade. The baseline ASICs are the serializer LOCx2 and the VCSEL driver LOCld, designed in a 0.25-{\mu}m Silicon-on-Sapphire (SoS) CMOS technology and consumed 843 mW and 320 mW, respectively. [...]

The neutron component of background of an HPGe detector operating in a surface laboratory / Baginova, M (CERN ; Comenius U.) ; Vojtyla, P (CERN) ; Povinec, P P (Comenius U.)
Investigation of neutron-induced background was carried out by studying interactions of cosmic-ray neutrons with an HPGe detector inside its shield placed on a ground floor of a 3-storey building. The study was conducted experimentally and by Monte Carlo simulations using GEANT4 simulation tool. [...]

Effect of local linear coupling on linear and nonlinear observables in circular accelerators / Hofer, M (CERN ; Vienna U.) ; Tomás, R (CERN)
Operation of particle accelerators and correction of unavoidable magnet or alignment errors critically depend on the assessment of both global and local observables such as tune or resonance driving terms. With most of the observables being a sum of different error sources, careful disentangling is necessary in order to establish an optimal correction and allow for smooth operation. [...]
