Performance of irradiated thin n-in-p planar pixel sensors for the ATLAS Inner Tracker upgrade / Savić, Natascha (Munich, Max Planck Inst.) ; Beyer, Julien-Christopher (Munich, Max Planck Inst.) ; Hiti, Bojan (Stefan Inst., Ljubljana) ; Kramberger, Gregor (Stefan Inst., Ljubljana) ; La Rosa, Alessandro (Munich, Max Planck Inst.) ; Macchiolo, Anna (Munich, Max Planck Inst.) ; Mandić, Igor (Stefan Inst., Ljubljana) ; Nisius, Richard (Munich, Max Planck Inst.) ; Petek, Martin (Stefan Inst., Ljubljana)
The ATLAS collaboration will replace its tracking detector with new all silicon pixel and strip systems. This will allow to cope with the higher radiation and occupancy levels expected after the 5-fold increase in the luminosity of the LHC accelerator complex (HL-LHC). [...]

The Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) project is right in the development phase. In this prospect, the main objective of the final focus stabilization is to succeed in damping ground motion vibration at the sub-nanometer scale to avoid any unwanted motion of the two last final focus magnets. [...]

Combining strong signal amplification made possible by Gaseous Electron Multipliers (GEMs) with the high spatial resolution provided by optical readout, highly performing radiation detectors can be realized. An optically read out GEM-based Time Projection Chamber (TPC) is presented. [...]

Constraints on rapidity-dependent initial conditions from charged particle pseudorapidity densities and correlations at the LHC / Ke, Weiyao (Duke U.) ; Moreland, J Scott (Duke U.) ; Bernhard, Jonah E (Duke U.) ; Bass, Steffen A (Duke U.)
The initial three-dimensional entropy distribution of the quark-gluon plasma produced in relativistic heavy-ion collision is systematically studied using parametric initial conditions. We apply a cumulant generating function approach to parametrize the rapidity dependence of local entropy deposition and extend the boost-invariant initial condition model T R ENTo to include longitudinal structure. Measurement of the nuclear modification factor for high- $p_T$ charged hadrons in p +Pb collisions with the ATLAS detector / Balek, Petr (Weizmann Inst.) /ATLAS
The charged hadron spectra in p +Pb and pp collisions at sNN=s=5.02 TeV are measured with the ATLAS experiment at the LHC. The measurements are performed with p +Pb data recorded in 2013 with an integrated luminosity of 25 nb−1 and pp data recorded in 2015 with an integrated luminosity of 28 pb−1 . [...]

D meson nuclear modification factor in PbPb at 5.02 TeV with CMS / Wang, Jing (MIT) /CMS
The measurement of heavy flavour production is a powerful tool to study the properties of the high-density QCD medium created in heavy-ion collisions as heavy quarks are sensitive to the transport properties of the medium and may interact with the QCD matter differently from light quarks. In particular, the comparison between the nuclear modification factors of light- and heavy-flavour particles provides insights into the expected flavour dependence of in-medium parton energy loss. Factorization of in-medium parton branching beyond the eikonal approximation / Apolinário, Liliana (LIP, Lisbon) ; Armesto, Néstor (Santiago de Compostela U., IGFAE) ; Milhano, José Guilherme (LIP, Lisbon ; CERN) ; Salgado, Carlos A (Santiago de Compostela U., IGFAE)
The description of the in-medium modifications of partonic showers is at the forefront of current theoretical and experimental efforts in heavy-ion physics. The theory of jet quenching, a commonly used alias for the modifications of the parton branching resulting from the interactions with the QGP, has been significantly developed over the last years. Neutral meson production in pp, p–Pb and Pb–Pb collisions with ALICE at the LHC / Okubo, Tsubasa (Hiroshima U.) /ALICE
The ALICE experiment is mainly devoted to the study of QGP expected to be created in heavy-ion collisions at the LHC. In the early stage of such collisions, partons can be scattered and photons can be produced in energetic hard processes. [...]

Low mass dielectron measurements in pp, p-Pb, and Pb-Pb collisions with ALICE at the LHC / Gunji, T (Tsukuba, Graduate U. Adv. Studies) /ALICE
Low mass dielectrons are important probes of the hot and dense QCD medium created in heavy-ion collisions, since the production of low mass dielectrons is sensitive to the thermodynamical properties of the medium and chiral symmetry restoration in the medium. The ALICE experiment at the LHC has measured low mass dielectrons in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 TeV and p–Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 5.02 TeV to study and disentangle effects due to the cold nuclear matter. Extracting jet quenching parameters from large $p_T$ hadron suppression at RHIC/LHC / Liu, Zhiquan (CCNU, Wuhan, Inst. Part. Phys. ; Hua-Zhong Normal U., LQLP) ; Zhang, Hanzhong (CCNU, Wuhan, Inst. Part. Phys. ; Hua-Zhong Normal U., LQLP) ; Zhang, Ben-Wei (CCNU, Wuhan, Inst. Part. Phys. ; Hua-Zhong Normal U., LQLP) ; Wang, Enke (CCNU, Wuhan, Inst. Part. Phys. ; Hua-Zhong Normal U., LQLP)
The large pT hadron suppression in high-energy heavy-ion collisions at RHIC/LHC is studied in a NLO pQCD parton model in which the fragmentation function is modified due to jet quenching. The energy loss of the energetic parton jets is incorporated in the modified fragmentation functions which utilize two important parameters to characterize the jet transport properties, the jet transport parameter qˆ0 and the mean free path λ0 , both at the initial time τ0 in the center of the fireball created in central AA collisions.
