Measurement of the ratio of branching fractions $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to D^{*-}\tau^{+}\nu_\tau)/\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to D^{*-}\mu^{+}\nu_\mu)$ with $\tau$ three-prong decays / Wormser, Guy (Orsay, LAL) /LHCb The prospects of a measurement of the branching fraction ratio $\mathcal{R}(D^*) \equiv \mathcal{B}(B^0 \to D^{*−} \tau^+ \nu_{\tau})/ \mathcal{B}(B^0 \to D^{*−} \mu^+ \nu_{\mu})$ is performed by using a data sample, corresponding to $3 \text{fb}^{−1}$ integrated luminosity, collected by LHCb at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV during the LHC Run 1. The $\tau$ lepton is reconstructed in the hadronic decay with three charged pions. Thermal stressing mitigation possibility intended for a DC-current magnet supply based on high power IGBT modules / Asimakopoulos, P (Chalmers U. Tech. ; CERN) ; Papastergiou, K D (CERN) ; Thiringer, T (Chalmers U. Tech.) ; Bongiorno, M (Chalmers U. Tech.) This work investigates the possibility to reduce the thermal stressing of high power IGBT modules in a DC-current application. Using four load current profiles as examples, two mitigation strategies are presented and their benefit to the power stack in terms of lifetime prolongation is evaluated. Hybrid capacitor discharge/switch-mode converter for pulsed applications: Topology and control design / Horrein, Ludovic (CERN) ; Cravero, Jean-Marc (CERN) The paper objective is to propose an innovative power converter topology combining the advantages of capacitor discharge and switch-mode converters to generate half sinusoidal fast current pulses with high precision. The capacitor discharge operation mode of the converter allows the generation of current pulses with fast transient response and the switch-mode operation enables the control of the pulse shape with high precision. The upgrade of the ALICE Inner Tracking System / Ravasenga, Ivan (Turin Polytechnic ; INFN, Turin) /ALICE In 2021, for the third run of the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC), Pb-Pb collisions will be performed at a centre-of-mass energy per nucleon of 5.5 TeV, with an integrated luminosity of $6 \times 10^{27}$ cm$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$ and at an unprecedented interaction rate up to 50 kHz. To fulfil the requirements of the ALICE physics program for Run 3, the ALICE experiment at LHC is planning a major upgrade during the Long Shutdown 2 of LHC in 2019-2020. Open heavy-flavour measurements in Pb-Pb collisions with ALICE at the LHC / Mischke, André (Utrecht U. (main)) /ALICE The ALICE experiment has measured charm and beauty production in Pb–Pb collisions at $\sqrt{S_{\rm{NN}}}= 2.76 \text{ TeV}$ and $5.02 \text{ TeV}$, via the reconstruction of hadronic D-meson decays and semi-leptonic Dand B-meson decays. In this contribution, an overview is given on current open heavy-flavour results from ALICE ranging from the nuclear modification factor to elliptic flow measurements and on the interpretation of the data by comparing with different model calculations of in-medium energy loss..
