An optically readout TPC for Rare Events study: The CYGNO project
/ Piacentini, Stefano (speaker) (Universita' di Roma, La Sapienza and INFN Roma (IT))
In recent years, there have been significant advancements in gaseous detectors, particularly Time Projection Chambers (TPCs), for detecting low-energy rare events. These detectors are sensitive to the charge released in the gas by ionizing radiation with energy deposits as low as few tens of electronvolts and also provide the topology of the ionization trail when coupled to suitable Micro Pattern Gas Detectors. [...]

How to maximise the impact of Open Source projects on technological independence, competitiveness, and innovation
/ Grzegorzewska, Paula (speaker) (OpenForum Europe)
Abstract:It is estimated that open source software contributes between €65 to €95 billion to the European Union’s GDP annually and promises significant growth opportunities for the region’s digital economy, as well as supporting the goals of technological independence and innovativeness. To achieve that, European policymakers should actively engage in a transition towards more openness in its political and investment culture, and provide support to open source initiatives and projects.Paula will discuss the study on the impact of open source on the European economy she co-authored and the need for a change in how innovation is measured, as well as policy measures needed [...]

Open Science Best Practices for Source Code Preservation
/ Zacchiroli, Stefano (speaker)
Abstract:Software has become a key part of most scientific experiments, throughout all fields of knowledge. In order to overcome the so-called reproducibility crisis in science, particular attention should be devoted to how we handle software source code in the context of scientific experiments. [...]

High Power Targetry R&D program with the RaDIATE Collaboration and target perspectives in the framework of Snowmass
/ Pellemoine, Frederique (speaker) (Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory)
A high-power target system is a key beam element to complete future High Energy Physics (HEP) experiments. In the recent past, major accelerator facilities [1,3] have been limited in beam power not by their accelerators, but by the beam intercepting device survivability. The target must then endure high power pulsed beam [4], leading to high cycle thermal stresses/pressures and thermal shocks. The increased beam power will also create significant challenges such as corrosion and radiation damage that can cause harmful effects on the material and degrade their mechanical and thermal properties during irradiation [...]
