For more information on the performers, see: http://www.jackliebeck.com/CERN50/JL.htm http://www.jackliebeck.com/CERN50/KA.htm The "WIENER SCHUBERTBUND" celebrates CERN's 50th "DEUTSCHE MESSE" By Franz Schubert performed by the "WIENER SCHUBERTBUND" On the occasion of the Organization's Fiftieth Anniversary, Mr Hans-Walter Gérard Schober, Honorary Consul-General of Austria in Geneva, is pleased to invite all those working at CERN to a mass at which Franz Schubert's German Mass will be sung by the Vienna Schubert Choral Society. This renown men's choir, founded in 1863. Eminent composers, including Richard Strauss, Wilhelm Kinzel, and Franz Lehàr, have written works for the ensemble. The choir, which now numbers 42, has a vast and varied repertoire. They perform about 30 shows a year and have toured to the United States, China, and Syria.
Entrance free, no tickets necessary. Sunday, 17 October, 11:00 Saint Joseph's Catholic Church, Place des Eaux-Vives, Geneva (about 900 seats). JUBILEE CONCERT performed by the "WIENER SCHUBERTBUND" The following day the Vienna Schubert Choral Society will sing at the United Nations. Entrance free, but a ticket is required. For CERN employees, the CERN Press Office (50-1-48) will distribute 100 tickets, each admitting two people.
