AppleTalk Routing: Phase-Out 30 September 2005

AppleTalk is a legacy MacOS protocol for discovering network file, print and other services. IP (Internet Protocol) has become a global standard for networking, replacing non-IP networks, like DECnet, IPX, AppleTalk and others. Following this evolution, support for AppleTalk on the CERN network infrastructure ceases on 30 September 2005. The replacement solutions are:

* SMB or HTTP for file services
* LPR for print services.

We invite all users who haven't done so already to switch to the replacement solutions. Instructions on how to do so are on the Web at:
