Site-wide security software upgrade for all CERN General Purpose network equipment

On Saturday 2 December 2006, a site-wide security software upgrade for all CERN general-purpose network equipment (offices, Computer Centre, experiments except the LHC experiments networks) will be performed. This maintenance will provoke a minimum of 2 short network interruptions lasting 2 minutes each for all users. There are thousands of pieces of equipment involved in this upgrade all over CERN, affecting all network users and services on the sites (Meyrin, Prévessin and all general purpose networks covering SPS and LHC pits), and it will take all day to deal with them all. The Technical Network and the SM18 magnet test facility will not be concerned by this upgrade.

Technical Network equipment

On Monday 4 December 2006, a site-wide security software upgrade for all CERN Technical Network network equipment (machine controls and technical facilities) will be performed. This maintenance will provoke a minimum of 2 short network interruptions lasting 2 minutes each. The interruptions are expected to occur between 9:00 and 12:00. The general-purpose network and the SM18 magnet test facility will not be concerned by this upgrade.

SM18 magnet test - Short network interruptions foreseen

On Friday 22 December 2006, the network equipment in the SM18 magnet test facility will be upgraded. This maintenance will provoke a minimum of 2 short network interruptions lasting 2 minutes each. The interruptions are expected to occur between 9:00 and 12:00.
