German visits to CERN

On 21 February, Professor Frieder Meyer-Krahmer, State Secretary to Germany's Federal Ministry of Education and Research, came to CERN. He visited the ALICE and ATLAS experiments and the computing centre before meeting the CERN's Director-General, some German physicists and members of the top management.

The Minister of Science, Research and the Arts of the Baden-Württemberg regional government, Prof. Peter Frankenberg, visited CERN on 23 February. He was accompanied by the Rector of the Fachhochschule Karlsruhe, Prof. Karl-Heinz Meisel, and by a representative of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. During the visit, Prof. Frankenberg and CERN's Director-General, Dr. Robert Aymar, signed an agreement aiming to enhance the participation of students from Baden-Württemberg Fachhochschulen in the CERN Technical Student Programme, as well as to foster regular contacts and the exchange of scientists between the two institutions. The German delegation also visited the CERN Computing Centre and some of the experimental areas.
