Nobel laureate T.D. Lee at CERN

On 30 August, Professor T.D. Lee, who received the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1957, gave a seminar at CERN on symmetry and asymmetry in electroweak interactions, 50 years after the discovery of the non-conservation of parity.

In 1956, Tsung-Dao Lee postulated with Chen Ning Yang that parity is not conserved in weak interactions, and suggested several experiments to demonstrate this. The following year, an experiment led by Chien-Shiung Wu proved this prediction and, soon after, T.D. Lee and Chen Ning Yang were awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics.

Still very active at over 80 years of age, T.D. Lee pursues his theory work to this day.
