Register for the local elections in France

If you are a European Union citizen residing in France and wish to vote in the forthcoming local elections you must register on the supplementary register at your town hall (mairie) before 31 December 2007. EU citizens are regarded as residing in France if their primary residence is in France or if they live there continuously. To be eligible to vote you must:

  • be a national of one of the 26 listed States of the European Union and present a valid identification document. Residence permits are valid;
  • be at least 18 years old by the closing date of revision of the supplementary electoral register, i.e. by the last day of February;
  • enjoy civic rights both in France and in your State of origin.
