Gateball

Gateball Event 6–8 September on the CERN Croquet Lawns

If you are looking for a new sport to take up, why not come along to the Swiss International Gateball Event being held on the CERN Croquet Lawns over the period 6-8 September.

It is a unique occasion, the very first gateball event here in Europe.

Gateball is the Oriental version of the game of Croquet, so if you have tried Croquet and find it a little 'too British', or have never tried any type of mallet sport, come along and try.

Participation is FREE and all equipment provided, along with a few drinks to keep you happy.

There will be Professional Instruction in how to play, time to practice and time to play.

It’s a team game for both sexes and all generations, from youngest to oldest, a group of friends, a group of work colleagues, a family, or a few individuals thrown together... It’s 'Team Building'.

Come along with friends and have fun or come on your own, make friends and enjoy yourself.

You do not have to stay the whole weekend, although we would like you to…

Professional instruction will be given on Friday 6th. September as of 17:30 and repeated again on the Saturday and Sunday mornings as of 09:00. The Saturday and Sunday morning sessions will be followed by practice and playing games.

There will be experienced players from Japan, China and India on hand to work with you and show you the strategies to use.

This link will give you a good idea of the game, the strokes and the strategy:
