Ulla Tihinen, EP-AGS-SE
At CERN since 1992

I arrived at CERN in 1992 as Staff Member and started as secretary at the DELPHI experiment’s secretariat. LEP being operational since a certain time, the experiment was running smoothly and I discovered the scientific world, which was completely new for me.

I have always worked for the same department (though its name has changed three times since 24 years); at the EP regional secretariat, at the ALICE experiment and now for the SFT and SME groups (Small and Medium Experiments Team).

Member of the Staff Association since I started to work at CERN, I have always followed its actions taken in various fields in the general interest of the whole CERN staff and I have participated to some actions when it was necessary and justified, for example to defend our pensions. Thus this is the reason which motivated me to present my candidature as delegate: work on behalf of all staff members and together, therefore I’d like to thank all my colleagues who gave me their vote which allow me to accomplish this mission.

There is a lot of work in the different commissions and I wish now to get involved to the accomplishment of these interesting tasks to mention the legal commission and Media-Com. I have also had the chance to participate in the trainings proposed by the association for its new delegates to be fully operational in this new role.

I’d like inviting all the members of the personnel to take an interest, close or far, to Staff Association’s activities; it is ours and we make it live!
