The magic of Christmas at CERN

The traditional "Cernois" Christmas party was first held in 1954, the year CERN was founded, and has been a must-see event for CERN's "little ones" ever since. The Staff Association took over the organization of this event in 1955 and continues to this day. In the 1960s, a second additional party was created to welcome even non-CERN children from neighbouring territories. Over the years this event has continued to evolve to meet CERN's expansion and the increase in the number of members of personnel.

This year, due to the health situation and for the first time in its history, the traditional Christmas party will not be able to take place in its usual format.

However, not wishing to deprive "our children" of this much-appreciated tradition, and in compliance with health regulations, the Staff Association nevertheless wished to give a gift to children aged between five and seven.

We hope to be able to find you with a warmer and more traditional format in 2021! Thus the entire Staff Association team wishes you and your loved ones a merry Christmas, restful holidays, and our best wishes for the New Year.
