European Strategy for Particle Physics 2026: Frontier sensor R&D for the ALICE 3 apparatus
/ALICE collaboration
The ALICE Collaboration plans to build a new experimental setup, ALICE 3, which will be installed during Long Shutdown 4. This apparatus will maximize the potential of the HL-LHC as a heavy-ion collider by giving access to new and unexplored experimental observables, thereby enabling the investigation of open fundamental questions regarding the quark-gluon plasma and other aspects of the strong interaction. European Strategy for Particle Physics 2026: Input from the ALICE Collaboration
/ALICE collaboration
The ALICE Collaboration is planning to build a new experimental apparatus, ALICE 3, to be installed during Long Shutdown 4, that will ensure the full exploitation, before the end of the HL-LHC operations, of the unique environment for the study of the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) offered by nuclear collisions at the multi-TeV scale. The very high QGP temperatures, the abundant production of heavy flavours and the very large single-event multiplicities available at the LHC have already provided major inroads in the understanding of the emergent properties of the QGP and opened an era of systematic quantitative measurements of its physical parameters that are well underway for Run 3 and Run 4. Assessing the mental health state of LHC scientists
/ Jonas, Florian (University of California Berkeley (US)) ; Quaglia, Luca (Universita e INFN Torino (IT)) ; Reetz, Carolina Anna (Heidelberg University (DE)) ; Bossi, Hannah (Massachusetts Inst. of Technology (US)) ; Rasanen, Sami Sakari (University of Jyvaskyla (FI)) ; Speziali, Sarah (Università Telematica degli Studi IUL (IT)) ; Coldham, Kathryn Wendy (Princeton University (US))
/ALICE collaboration
A series of mental health awareness trainings have been initiated by the Early Career Scientists Fora (ECSF) to support and inform the LHC community. Building on a series of workshops, held online and in person at CERN between 2021 and 2023, a survey was shared with all four major experiments to assess the mental health perceptions and needs of participants. Supplemental figures: Measurement of the inclusive isolated-photon production cross section in pp and Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV
/ALICE collaboration
The following note presents supplemental figures and additional material for the paper: ``Measurement of the inclusive isolated-photon production cross section in pp and Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV'' A description of the calorimeter cell clusterization algorithm and cell selection for the shower spread calculation is presented. Supplementary figures are provided: shower shape distributions, including the effect on the variation of the cross-talk emulation parameters in the simulation; the underlying event subtraction with different area definitions; and isolated photon efficiency. Assessing the speed of sound in Pb–Pb collisions with ALICE
/ALICE collaboration
Ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions produce a state of hot and dense strongly interacting QCD matter called quark--gluon plasma (QGP). On an event-by-event basis, the volume of the QGP in ultra-central collisions is mostly constant, while its total entropy can vary significantly, leading to variations in the temperature of the system. [...]

Physics Preliminary Summary: D0 meson yields as a function of the underlying event activity in pp collisions at √s = 13 TeV
/ALICE Collaboration
This public note presents the first measurement by the ALICE experiment of D0 production as a function of the transverse event activity classifier RT in pp collisions at √s=13 TeV at central rapidity (|η|<0.8). Events containing a leading particle with pleadT>5 GeV/c that have above-average underlying event activity suggest a higher per-event D0 yield in the toward region than events with below-average underlying event activity for 2<pD0T<5 GeV/c.
