An Efficient Optimisation of a Burst Mode-Operated Fabry-Perot Cavity for Compton Light Sources / Mușat, Vlad (CERN ; Oxford U.) ; Cormier, Eric (LP2N, Bordeaux) ; Granados, Eduardo (CERN) ; Latina, Andrea (CERN) ; Santarelli, Giorgio (LP2N, Bordeaux)
The burst mode operation of a Fabry-Perot cavity (FPC) allows for the generation of a high-intensity photon beam in inverse Compton scattering (ICS) sources. The geometry and burst mode parameters of the FPC can be optimised to maximise the scattered photon flux. [...]

ATF2-3 hardware upgrade and new experimental results to maximize luminosity potential of linear colliders / Faus-Golfe, Angeles (IJCLab, Orsay) ; Aryshev, Alexander (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Lyapin, Alexey (Oxford U.) ; Kruchinin, Konstantin (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Terunuma, Nobuhiro (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Fuster-Martinez, Nuria (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Burrows, Philip (Oxford U.) ; Mazzoni, Stefano (CERN) ; Okugi, Toshiyuki (KEK, Tsukuba) /ATF2 Collaboration
The ATF2-3 beamline is the only facility in the world for testing the Final Focus Beamline of linear colliders and is essential for the ILC and the CLIC projects. A vertical electron beam size of 41 nm (within 10% of the target), a closed-loop intra-bunch feedback of latency 133 ns, and direct stabilization of the beam position at the Interaction Point to 41 nm (limited by IP BPM resolution) have all been achieved at ATF2. Tail population studies in the CERN Proton Synchrotron / Bozatzis, Miltiadis (Aristotle U., Thessaloniki ; CERN) ; Asvesta, Foteini (CERN) ; Bartosik, Hannes (CERN) ; Huschauer, Alexander (CERN) ; Lasheen, Alexandre (CERN) ; Maclean, Ewen (CERN) ; Prebibaj, Tirsi (CERN) ; Van Goethem, Wietse (CERN)
The beam quality in terms of the transverse beam profiles from the CERN injectors plays a crucial role for the luminosity production at the LHC. Transverse tails beyond a Gaussian distribution have been observed in all the LHC injectors and efforts to optimize them are ongoing, as they can perturb operations due to large losses at LHC injection. Dynamic Aperture and Frequency Analysis in ELENA with Electron Cooler Magnetic Field Included / Bojtár, Lajos (CERN)
We present a new tracking algorithm and its implementation called SIMPA. It has the unique feature of long-term tracking of charged particles in arbitrary static electromagnetic fields in a symplectic way. [...]

Progress & developments of BDSIM / Shields, William (Royal Holloway, U. of London) ; Nevay, Laurence (CERN) ; Boogert, Stewart (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.)
Beam Delivery Simulation (BDSIM), is a C++ program that seamlessly models particle beam transport within an accelerator model that can encompass the beam line, the accelerator's environment, and any accompanying detectors. Based on a suite of high-energy physics software including Geant4, CLHEP, and ROOT, BDSIM transforms the optical design of an accelerator into a detailed 3D model. [...]

Hybrid on-axis and off-axis top-up injection at the future circular lepton collider / Yue, Sen (CERN) ; Dutheil, Yann (CERN) ; Bartmann, Wolfgang (CERN) ; Johnson, Eliott (CERN) ; Martinek, Petr (CERN)
In order to maximize the integrated luminosity of the future circular lepton collider (FCC-ee), a top-up injection scheme is required. Amongst the four operation modes of FCC-ee, the Z operation mode has the highest stored beam energy in the collider ring with about 20 MJ per beam. [...]

Optics rematching between TT24 and P42 primary beam lines within the HI-ECN3 study project at CERN / Gorn, Aleksandr (CERN) ; Bracco, Chiara (CERN) ; Velotti, Francesco (CERN) ; Bernhard, Johannes (CERN) ; Nevay, Laurence (CERN) ; Dyks, Luke (Oxford U.) ; Fraser, Matthew (CERN)
The High Intensity ECN3 (HI-ECN3) study project aims to increase the intensity of the proton beam delivered to a new experimental facility housed in the ECN3 underground cavern in CERN’s North Area up to the ~4e+13 ppp (protons per pulse) and up to ~4e+19 POT (protons on target) per year. The increase necessitates upgrades of the primary beam transfer lines coming from SPS directly to the new Target Complex upstream of ECN3. [...]

Impact of octupoles on the Schottky spectra of bunched beams / Lannoy, Christophe (CERN ; Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Alves, Diogo (CERN) ; Lasocha, Kacper (CERN) ; Mounet, Nicolas (CERN) ; Pieloni, Tatiana (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne)
Schottky monitors serve as non-invasive tools for beam diagnostics, providing insights into crucial bunch characteristics such as tune, chromaticity, bunch profile, or synchrotron frequency distribution. However, octupole magnets commonly used in circular storage rings to mitigate instabilities through the Landau damping mechanism, can significantly affect the Schottky spectrum. [...]

First comparison studies in dynamic aperture for nested magnets and baseline lattice in the FCC-ee / García-Jaimes, C (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne, LPAP) ; Pieloni, T (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne, LPAP) ; van Riesen-Haupt, L (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne, LPAP) ; Seidel, M (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne, LPAP) ; Tomás, R (CERN)
A significant project such as the FCC-ee (with 91.17 km circumference) entails numerous challenges to ensure the stability and performance of the machine. In the pursuit of contributing to the improvement of energy consumption during its operation, the exploration of Nested Magnets (NMs) as a means to reduce synchrotron radiation has been undertaken. Studies and mitigation of TMCI in FCC-ee / Migliorati, Mauro (Rome U. ; INFN, Rome) ; Zannini, Carlo (CERN) ; Antuono, Chiara (CERN) ; Gibellieri, Dora (Rome U. ; CERN) ; Zobov, Mikhail (Frascati) ; Behtouei, Mostafa (Frascati) ; Soos, Roxana (IJCLab, Orsay ; CERN) ; Zhang, Yuan (Beijing, Inst. High Energy Phys.)
Previous studies have identified turbulent mode coupling instability (TMCI) as one of the most severe single-bunch instabilities in the FCC-ee collider, potentially limiting its performance. Its threshold is influenced by both transverse and longitudinal wakefields arising from vacuum chamber resistive wall effects, discontinuities, and beam-beam interactions, the latter of which can be seen as a transverse cross-wake force. In this paper, we investigate the TMCI using the most recent collider parameters and an updated impedance model.
