FCC-ee Machine Detector Interface Alignment System Concepts / Watrelot, Leonard
This thesis is in the framework of the lepton collider part of the Future Circular Collider project, aiming to be the next flagship project at CERN after the High Luminosity upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider, in 2040. The study focuses on the alignment, and monitoring of the alignment, of some accelerator components located inside the physics detector, close to the collision point. [...]

Design and Manufacturing of an HTS Helical Undulator Demonstrator for Compact FELs / Richter, S C (CERN ; KIT, Karlsruhe) ; Ballarino, A (CERN) ; Bernhard, A (KIT, Karlsruhe) ; Müller, A S (KIT, Karlsruhe)
Among all superconducting undulator geometries, a helical undulator provides a very compact geometry and further is more effective in producing synchrotron radiation, providing circularly polarized photons, which are widely usable for synchrotron radiation users. These characteristics make it a very attractive option for realizing more compact free-electron lasers, requiring a combination of short-period and high-field undulators to produce coherent light up to X-rays. Curved-Canted-Cosine-Theta (CCCT) Dipole Prototype Development at CERN / Haziot, Ariel (CERN) ; Kirby, Glyn (CERN) ; Dallocchio, Alessandro (CERN) ; Devred, Arnaud (CERN) ; Foussat, Arnaud (CERN) ; Gentini, Luca (CERN) ; Mangiarotti, Franco J (CERN) ; Pentella, Mariano (CERN) ; Petrone, Carlo (CERN) ; Pincot, Francois-Olivier (CERN) et al.
Due to its flexibility in generating advanced field harmonic corrections and potential for low cost compared to traditional designs, the Canted Cosine Theta (CCT) configuration is particularly interesting for compact particle accelerators and gantries for medical applications. This article presents the design of a curved demonstrator named Fusillo, a Canted Cosine Theta Nb-Ti dipole magnet that is being developed at CERN, featuring a large aperture of 236 mm, a small bending radius of 1 m, a bending angle of 90$^{\circ }$, and multi-harmonic field correction, with a 3.61 T conductor peak field. Study on the Thermal Contraction Behavior of State-of-the-Art Nb$_3$Sn Superconducting Magnet Coils in the Longitudinal, Azimuthal, and Radial Direction / Höll, Stefan (CERN) ; Guinchard, Michael (CERN) ; Izquierdo Bermudez, Susana (CERN) ; Frutos, Óscar Sacristán De (CERN)
To meet the requirements of the HL-LHC upgrade in terms of stronger magnetic fields, the new focusing MQXF quadrupoles make use of the enhanced superconducting properties of  Nb$_3$Sn compared to its predecessor NbTi. However, the change in material leads to an increased brittleness and strain sensitivity of the magnet coils, which raises the importance of an adequate mechanical design to guarantee the performance of the magnet. Following the recommendation of the Updated European Strategy for Particle Physics, an International Muon Collider Collaboration has been formed and is currently studying the feasibility of a 10 TeV center-of-mass energy muon collider facility. Several technical challenges must be faced, mainly due to the limited muon lifetime at rest, 2.2 µs. [...]
