A New Electron Cooler for the CERN Antiproton Decelerator (AD) / Tranquille, G (CERN) ; Cenede, J (CERN) ; Frassier, A (CERN) ; Chritin, N S (CERN) ; Coutron, Y M (CERN) ; Sinturel, A (CERN) ; Ferreira, J A (CERN) ; von Freeden, L (CERN) ; Bajas, H (CERN) ; Jorgensen, L V (CERN)
The current electron cooler at the Antiproton Decelerator (AD) at CERN was built in the second half of the 1970s and is thus well over 40 years old. It was built for the Initial Cooling Experiment (ICE) where stochastic and electron cooling were tested to ascertain the feasibility of using these techniques to generate high intensity antiproton beams for the SPpS. AD/ELENA Electron Cooling Experience During and after CERNs Long Shutdown (LS2) / Gamba, Davide (CERN) ; Bojtár, Lajos (CERN) ; Carli, Christian (CERN) ; Dupuy, Bruno (CERN) ; Frassier, Alexandre (CERN) ; Jørgensen, Lars (CERN) ; Ponce, Laurette (CERN) ; Tranquille, Gerard (CERN)
Electron cooling is a key ingredient of the Antimatter Factory at CERN, now composed of the AD and ELENA rings, both featuring an electron cooler. After the successful commissioning of the ELENA ring and electron cooling with antiprotons in 2018, the facility was shut down for the CERN long shutdown (LS2). [...]

Recommissioning of the CERN AD Stochastic Cooling System in 2021 after Long Shutdown 2 / Höfle, Wolfgang (CERN) ; Carli, Christian (CERN) ; Caspers, Fritz (CERN) ; Dupuy, Bruno (CERN) ; Gamba, Davide (CERN) ; Louwerse, Reinier (CERN) ; Myklebust, Vebjorn Roed (CERN) ; Oliveira, Joao Carlos (CERN) ; Ponce, Laurette (CERN) ; Rey, Stephane (CERN) et al.
The power system of the Stochastic Cooling System of the anti-proton decelerator AD at CERN, installed on top of the shielding blocks of the AD ring, was completely dismantled during the long shutdown 2 (LS2) at the end of the 2018 run in order to gain access to the accelerator for magnet consolidation. At start-up, this required finding and verifying the correct delays for all 48 power amplifiers feeding to the two kickers by means of beam transfer functions for the two cooling plateaus at 3.57 GeV/c and 2 GeV/c. Optimization of the Electron Emission From Carbon Nanotubes for Electron Cooling in ELENA / Galante, B (CERN ; Liverpool U. ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Tranquille, G A (CERN) ; Welsch, C P (Liverpool U. ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; López, J Resta (Liverpool U. ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; Valencia U.)
Electron cooling is a process that guarantees beam quality in low energy antimatter facilities. In ELENA the electron cooler allows to reduce the emittance blow-up of the antiproton beam, thus delivering highly focused and bright beams at the unprecedented low energy of 100 keV to the experiments. [...]

Thermal Validation, Structural Implications and Redesign Proposals of the Multipurpose External Dump of the Proton Synchrotron at CERN / Pilan Zanoni, André (CERN) ; Calviani, Marco (CERN) ; Grenier-Boley, Edouard (CERN)
In order to safely absorb charged particle beams prepared for various experimental facilities at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) an external dump is installed at the end of the Proton Synchrotron (PS) transfer line. This dump currently consists of stacked cast iron blocks surrounded by concrete shielding. [...]

Phase advance constraint in $K$ modulation for precise $\beta$-function determination / Garcia-Morales, H (CERN) ; Hofer, M (CERN) ; Maclean, E H (CERN) ; van Riesen-Haupt, L (CERN) ; Tomás, R (CERN)
A precise determination of the β function at different locations of an accelerator is essential to allow accurate optics correction and to ensure high machine performance. The β function can only be measured directly at locations where beam position monitors are installed. [...]

During the 2018 proton run, a new radio-frequency beam manipulation has been studied and successfully implemented at the CERN Proton Synchrotron (PS) for the first time. This technique is used to deplete a well-defined fraction of a continuous longitudinal beam distribution by creating a so-called barrier bucket. [...]
