Simulations and experimental commissioning results of the AWAKE Run 2 photoinjector / Eager, Anton (CERN) ; Doebert, Steffen (CERN)
AWAKE (Advanced Wakefield Experiment) is the world’s first proton-driven plasma wake field acceleration experiment and has demonstrated the acceleration of electrons to several GeV’s in its first Run. The goal of Run2 is acceleration of a witness bunch whilst preserving beam quality and experiment scalability. [...]

Impact of ground motion on FCC-ee performance / Skoufaris, Kyriacos (CERN) ; Tomas, Rogelio (CERN)
The Future Circular Collider for electron-positron collisions (FCC-ee) is a proposed next-generation particle accelerator aimed at achieving high luminosity and precision for fundamental particle physics experiments. Its performance is sensitive to environmental factors such as ground motion, which can induce vibrations and misalignments in critical accelerator components. [...]

Highlights from Future Circular Collider Feasibility Study and Path to Construction / Zimmermann, Frank (CERN) ; Benedikt, Michael (CERN)
The proposed Future Circular Collider (FCC) integrated programme consists of two stages: an electron–positron collider serving as a Higgs-boson, electroweak and top-quark factory, followed by a proton–proton collider operating at a collision energy around 100 TeV. In 2021, in response to the 2020 update of the European Strategy for Particle Physics, the CERN Council initiated the FCC Feasibility Study. [...]

Electromagnetic compatibility and spurious triggering detection validation of the CLIQ units for superconducting magnet protection in the High-Luminosity LHC project / Carrillo, David (CERN) ; Nowak, Edward (CERN) ; de Nicolás Lumbreras, Enrique (CERN) ; Martin Garcia, Guzman (CERN) ; Spasic, Jelena (CERN) ; Pojer, Mirko (CERN) ; Georgakakis, Spyridon (CERN)
The Coupling-Loss-Induced-Quench (CLIQ) concept is an integral part of the quench protection system for the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) Inner Triplet superconducting magnets at CERN. Since the discharge of the CLIQ unit induces a change of the magnetic field in the low beta quadrupoles, a spurious trigger during operation could deflect the beam, potentially causing critical losses and posing a failure risk for the LHC. [...]

Trigger synchronization unit consolidation for SPS and LHC dumping kickers systems / Voumard, Nicolas (CERN) ; Sanchez, Jenny Estefania Santana (CERN) ; Felsberger, Lukas (CERN) ; Strobino, Léa (CERN) ; Niccolini, Marco (CERN) ; Blaszkiewicz, Milosz (CERN)
The TSU's (Trigger Synchronization Unit ) purpose is to synchronize beam dump requests with the Beam Abort Gap (BAG) upon request from clients, primarily the Beam Interlock System (BIS). Synchronization is crucial to prevent damaging absorbers/collimators and cryo ring magnets. The TSU system, per beam, comprises two interconnected, redundant chassis for synchronization. [...]

The IRRAD Proton Irradiation Facility Data Management, Analytics, Control and Beam Diagnostic systems: current performance and outlook beyond the CERN LS3$^\ast$ / Ravotti, Federico (CERN) ; Gkotse, Blerina (CERN ; U. Wisconsin, Madison (main) ; Paris, Ecole des Mines) ; Jouvelot, Pierre (Paris, Ecole des Mines) ; Malkin, Michael (CERN) ; Matli, Emanuele (CERN) ; McCarthy, Joe (CERN) ; Minafra, Nicola (CERN) ; Pezzullo, Giuseppe (CERN) ; Scheuerlein, Christian (CERN) ; Szumega, Jaroslaw (CERN ; Paris, Ecole des Mines)
The proton irradiation facility (IRRAD) at the CERN East Area was built in 2014 during the Long Shutdown 1 (LS1), and later improved during the LS2 (2019), to address the needs of the HL-LHC accelerator and detector upgrade projects. IRRAD, together with the CHARM facility on the same beamline, exploits the 24GeV/c proton beam of the Proton Synchrotron (PS) providing an essential service at CERN showcasing more than 4400 samples irradiated during the last decade [...]

Operational experience and design improvement studies of the LHC MKI cool / Favia, Giorgia (CERN) ; Bracco, Chiara (CERN) ; Standen, Dylan (CERN) ; Papastergiou, Konstantinos (CERN) ; Ducimetière, Laurent (CERN) ; Barnes, Michael (CERN) ; Diaz Zumel, Miguel (CERN) ; Trubacova, Pavlina (CERN) ; Kramer, Thomas (CERN) ; Stadlbauer, Tobias (CERN) et al.
In view of the unprecedented beam intensities expected in the High-Luminosity era of the Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC), an upgrade of the LHC injection kickers (MKIs) is currently underway. This upgrade aims to mitigate excessive beam-induced heating of the MKIs and to limit resulting vacuum activity. [...]

Beam impedance investigation of the elliptical interconnecting vacuum modules of the LHC and prospect for HL-LHC / Antuono, Chiara (CERN) ; Galloro, Alessio (CERN) ; Zannini, Carlo (CERN) ; de la Fuente, Elena (CERN) ; Bregliozzi, Giuseppe (CERN) ; Sito, Leonardo (CERN) ; Giacomel, Lorenzo (CERN) ; Mounet, Nicolas (CERN) ; Krkotic, Patrick (CERN) ; Calatroni, Sergio (CERN)
In view of ensuring the successful completion of the third operational run of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and preparing for the High-Luminosity LHC era, a systematic assessment of the risk of failure of all the vacuum interconnection modules installed in the accelerator is being carried out. This was prompted by a significant pressure rise in 2023, localized near an interconnection module (212 mm inner diameter) caused by a localized impedance-induced heating on the tension spring. [...]

Online analysis of proton and lead ion LHC schottky spectra / Lasocha, Kacper (CERN) ; Lannoy, Christophe (CERN) ; Alves, Diogo (CERN) ; Mounet, Nicolas (CERN) ; Marqversen, Ole (CERN) ; Levens, Thomas (CERN)
The Schottky signals encode various beam and machine parameters, such as betatron tune, chromaticity, momentum deviation and transverse emittance. In this contribution we present the architecture and the performance of the system estimating these parameters in real-time, providing the only non-invasive measurement of chromaticity at the Large Hadron Collider.
