Calibration and performance of the CMS Electromagnetic Calorimeter in LHC Run 3
/
Zhang, Jie
(Beijing, Inst. High Energy Phys.) /CMS Collaboration
The electromagnetic calorimeter (ECAL) of the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC is crucial for many physics analyses, ranging from Higgs measurements to searches for new physics. Precise calibration of the detector and all its individual channels is essential to achieve the best possible resolution for electron and photon energy measurements.

De Riggi, Federica
(INFN, Rome ; Rome U.) /CMS Collaboration
The electromagnetic calorimeter (ECAL) of the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider is a homogeneous calorimeter made of 75848 lead tungstate crystals. The scintillation light is detected by avalanche photodiodes (APD) in the barrel and vacuum phototriodes in the endcaps.

The CMS Level-1 Trigger Data Scouting system for the HL-LHC upgrade
/
Meschi, Emilio
(CERN) /CMS Collaboration
To fully exploit the extended capability of its upgraded L1 trigger at the High-Luminosity LHC, CMS is pioneering a novel L1 Data Scouting (L1DS) system, capable of acquiring and processing the quasi-offline-quality trigger primitives produced by the upgraded L1 at the accelerator bunch-crossing rate of 40 MHz. The goal of the system is to give full access to potential physics signatures otherwise constrained by the L1 latency and accept rate limitations, or whose selection strategy diverges from that of the standard CMS physics program.

Physics results with the CMS Precision Proton Spectrometer and projections for the HL-LHC with PPS2
/
Da Silveira, Gustavo Gil
(Rio de Janeiro State U.) /CMS and TOTEM Collaborations
The CMS Collaboration has reported new results on the Central Exclusive Production (CEP), $pp \to p\oplus X\oplus p$, using data collected from 2016 to 2018. These results explore precise measurements of the electroweak sector of the Standard Model and searches for potential signs of New Physics.

Performance of CMS Level-1 Trigger Data Scouting during LHC Run 3
/
Giorgetti, Sabrina
(INFN, Padua) /CMS Collaboration
The CMS Level-1 Trigger Data Scouting (L1DS) system represents an innovative approach within the CMS experiment, enabling the acquisition and processing of Level-1 Trigger (L1T) objects at the full LHC bunch-crossing (BX) rate of 40 MHz. The system will be fully deployed as part of the CMS Phase-2 Upgrade at the High-Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC), harnessing the improved Phase-2 L1T design, featuring tracker and high-granularity calorimeter data for the first time.

Upgrade of the CMS Drift Tube electronics for the High Luminosity LHC
/
Fernandez Bedoya, Cristina
(Madrid, CIEMAT) /CMS Collaboration
The High Luminosity LHC upgrade mandates a comprehensive overhaul of the CMS Drift Tubes (DT) electronics due to trigger rates surpassing current capabilities. By leveraging advancements in optical and bandwidth technologies, this upgrade presents an opportunity to redefine the architecture of DT electronics.

Machine learning based tau lepton identification for the CMS high-level trigger deployed for 13.6 TeV proton-proton collisions
/
Sarkisovi, Valentina
(Aachen, Tech. Hochsch.) /CMS Collaboration
Tau leptons are important to several testable predictions of the standard model, including lepton spin polarization, and the Higgs Yukawa coupling to leptons. Tau leptons are also vital in the search for beyond the standard model physics, as many models predict new particles which decay into final states with tau leptons.
