Studies of C$_{2}$H$_{2}$F$_{4}$ and SF$_{6}$ alternative gas mixtures for HPL RPC detectors for High Energy Physics applications / Verzeroli, M (IP2I, Lyon) ; Guida, R (CERN) ; Juks, S A (Saclay) ; Mandelli, B (CERN) ; Rigoletti, G (CERN)
This research investigates the viability of replacing greenhouse gases C$_{2}$H$_{2}$F$_{4}$ and SF$_{6}$ with eco-friendly gas mixtures in Resistive Plate Chamber (RPC) detectors used at CERN LHC experiments. The study focuses on the addition of CO$_{2}$ as a substitute of C$_{2}$H$_{2}$F$_{4}$ to minimize greenhouse gas emissions and reduce operational costs. [...]

Geant4 silver anniversary: 25 years enabling scientific production / Basaglia, Tullio (CERN) ; Bell, Zane W. (IEEE, Piscataway) ; DAgostino, Daniele (Genoa U. ; INFN, CNAF) ; Dressendorfer, Paul V. (IEEE, Piscataway) ; Pia, Maria Grazia (INFN, Genoa) ; Ronchieri, Elisabetta (INFN, CNAF)
This paper summarizes Geant4 contribution to scientific research over the past 25 years through a scientometric analysis of the results with which it has been associated. The scientometric data collected from scholarly literature and databases are evaluated with methods pertaining to econometrics and ecology to quantify relevant traits, diversity and disparity in their scientific and geographic distributions, and to identify statistically significant trends. The CMS Fast Beam Condition Monitor for HL-LHC / Auzinger, G. (CERN) ; Bakhshiansohi, H. (Isfahan Tech. U.) ; Dabrowski, A. (CERN) ; Delannoy, A.G. (Oxford U.) ; Dierlamm, A. (KIT, Karlsruhe, IKP) ; Dragicevic, M. (Vienna, OAW) ; Gholami, A. (Isfahan Tech. U.) ; Gomez, G. (Cantabria Inst. of Phys.) ; Guthoff, M. (DESY) ; Haranko, M. (CERN) et al.
The high-luminosity upgrade of the LHC brings unprecedented requirements for real-time andprecision bunch-by-bunch online luminosity measurement and beam-induced background monitoring. Akey component of the CMS Beam Radiation, Instrumentation and Luminosity system is a stand-aloneluminometer, the Fast Beam Condition Monitor (FBCM), which is fully independent from the CMScentral trigger and data acquisition services and able to operate at all times with a triggerlessreadout. Gaia Data Release 3 - Stellar multiplicity, a teaser for the hidden treasure / Gaia Collaboration
Context.TheGaiaDR3 catalogue contains, for the first time, about 800 000 solutions with either orbital elements or trend parameters for astrometric, spectroscopic, and eclipsing binaries, and combinations of these three.Aims.With this paper, we aim to illustrate the huge potential of this large non-single-star catalogue.Methods.Using the orbital solutions and models of the binaries, we have built a catalogue of tens of thousands of stellar masses or lower limits thereof, some with consistent flux ratios. Properties concerning the completeness of the binary catalogues are discussed, statistical features of the orbital elements are explained, and a comparison with other catalogues is performed.Results.Illustrative applications are proposed for binaries across the Hertzsprung-Russell Diagram (HRD). 70 years at the high-energy frontier with the CERN accelerator complex / Brüning, Oliver (CERN) ; Klein, Max (Liverpool U.) ; Myers, Stephen (CERN) ; Rossi, Lucio (Milan Bicocca U. ; LASA, Segrate)
Over the first 70 years of its existence, CERN has created an impressive portfolio of accelerators, many of which are still in operation today. The ‘jewel in the crown’ of the complex is certainly the 27-km tunnel and its infrastructure, built approximately 100 m underground between the Jura mountains and Lake Geneva on the French–Swiss border. Highly uniform silicon nanopatterning with deep-ultraviolet femtosecond pulses / Granados, Eduardo (CERN) ; Martinez-Calderon, Miguel (CERN) ; Groussin, Baptiste (CERN) ; Colombier, Jean Philippe (Lab. Hubert Curien, St. Etienne) ; Santiago, Ibon
Abstract The prospect of employing nanophotonic methods for controlling photon–electron interactions has ignited substantial interest within the particle accelerator community. Silicon-based integrated dielectric laser acceleration (DLA) has emerged as a viable option by leveraging localized photonic effects to emit, accelerate, and measure electron bunches using exclusively light. New RPC gas mixtures for sustainable operation in the CMS experiment / López, Dayron Ramos (INFN, Bari ; Bari Polytechnic) /CMS Muon Collaboration
The current operation of the Resistive Plate Chamber (RPC) system within the CMS experiment involves approximately 95% tetrafluoroethane (C2H2F4, TFE). However, in response to climate change concerns, the European Union has instituted a ban on TFE owing to its elevated Global Warming Potential (GWP), resulting in an associated increase in market prices. Recent results and perspectives of the Monopix Depleted Monolithic Active Pixel Sensors (DMAPS) / Hügging, Fabian (Bonn U.) ; Barbero, Marlon (Marseille, CPPM) ; Barrilon, Pierre (Marseille, CPPM) ; Bespin, Christian (Bonn U.) ; Breugnon, Patrick (Marseille, CPPM) ; Caicedo, Ivan (Bonn U.) ; Degerli, Yavuz (IRFU, Saclay) ; Dingfelder, Jochen (Bonn U.) ; Hemperek, Tomasz (Bonn U.) ; Hirono, Toko (Bonn U.) et al.
The integration of readout electronics and sensors into a single entity of silicon in monolithic pixel detectors lowers the material budget while simplifying the production procedure compared to the conventional hybrid pixel detector concept. The increasing availability of high-resistivity substrates and high-voltage capabilities in commercial CMOS processes facilitates the application of depleted monolithic active pixel sensors (DMAPS) in modern particle physics experiments. Dark-Sector Search via Pion-Produced η and η′ Mesons Decaying Invisibly in the NA64h Detector / NA64 Collaboration
We present the first results from a proof-of-concept search for dark sectors via invisible decays of pseudoscalar η and η′ mesons in the NA64h experiment at the CERN SPS. Our novel technique uses the charge-exchange reaction of 50 GeV π- on nuclei of an active target as the source of neutral mesons. [...]
