Tracer diffusion of 44Ti, 46Sc and 89Zr in the hexagonal close-packed (HCP) HfScTiZr multicomponent alloy is investigated using the radiotracer technique. The microstructure stability is thoroughly examined by conducting prolonged heat treatments between 873 K and 1373 K to mimic the diffusion conditions. [...]

An Efficient Optimisation of a Burst Mode-Operated Fabry-Perot Cavity for Compton Light Sources
/ Mușat, Vlad (CERN ; Oxford U.) ; Cormier, Eric (LP2N, Bordeaux) ; Granados, Eduardo (CERN) ; Latina, Andrea (CERN) ; Santarelli, Giorgio (LP2N, Bordeaux)
The burst mode operation of a Fabry-Perot cavity (FPC) allows for the generation of a high-intensity photon beam in inverse Compton scattering (ICS) sources. The geometry and burst mode parameters of the FPC can be optimised to maximise the scattered photon flux. [...]

Local plastic deformation effects on the critical current of high-J$_{c}$ Nb$_{3}$Sn strands under uniaxial strain
/ Liu, Yunhao (Hefei, CUST) ; Sun, Yi (Hefei, CUST) ; Gao, Peng (Hefei, CUST) ; Nijhuis, Arend (Twente U., Enschede) ; Devred, Arnaud (CERN) ; Guo, Zichuan (Hefei, CUST) ; Zhu, Huajin (Guangxi Normal U.) ; Xu, Peng (Hefei, CUST) ; Shi, Yi (Hefei, CUST) ; Liu, Fang (Hefei, CUST)
In order to meet the target operating parameters of the toroidal field coils (TFCs) for the next-generation Chinese compact burning plasma tokamak, high critical current density (J$_{c}$) Nb$_{3}$Sn strand will be applied to the high-field winding-package of the TFC. To improve the transverse stiffness of the cable in withstanding the huge Lorentz force and avoiding conductor performance degradation, the short-twist-pitch and copper-wound-strand cable patterns were taken into consideration. Cleaning of laser-induced periodic surface structures on copper by gentle wet chemical processing

•Cleaning of 365 nm LIPSS from debris of with microemulsions has been demonstrated.•Excellent debris and particles removal while maintaining the LIPSS pattern were found.•The cleaning mechanism is dominated of selective dissolution of nanomaterial and oxides. Laser-induced periodic surface structures (LIPSS) attract considerable attention due to the manifold applications enabled by these self-organised structures ranging from optical colouring to bio-mimicking or wetting effects. Experience with Beam Transfer Function Measurements for Setting-up the Stochastic Cooling System in the CERN Anti-Proton Decelerator (AD)
/ Rey, Stephane (CERN) ; Bastos, Wilker (CERN) ; Caspers, Fritz (CERN) ; Dupuy, Bruno (CERN) ; Gamba, Davide (CERN) ; Höfle, Wolfgang (CERN) ; Louwerse, Reinier (CERN)
Beam transfer function measurements have regularly been used to set-up the adjustable parameters for stochastic cooling systems. We report on the automation of these measurements at CERN that permit efficient set-up of the cooling loops in the anti-proton decelerator (AD) and enables insight into the bandwidth (nominal frequency range of 850 MHz to 1.7 GHz) of the overall system for the longitudinal, horizontal and vertical cooling at the two different beam momenta of 2 GeV/c and 3.5 GeV/c. ATF2-3 hardware upgrade and new experimental results to maximize luminosity potential of linear colliders

/ATF2 Collaboration
The ATF2-3 beamline is the only facility in the world for testing the Final Focus Beamline of linear colliders and is essential for the ILC and the CLIC projects. A vertical electron beam size of 41 nm (within 10% of the target), a closed-loop intra-bunch feedback of latency 133 ns, and direct stabilization of the beam position at the Interaction Point to 41 nm (limited by IP BPM resolution) have all been achieved at ATF2. Characterization of Fragmented Ultrahigh-Energy Heavy Ion Beam and Its Effects on Electronics Single-Event Effect Testing

Ultrahigh-energy (UHE) (>5 GeV/n) heavy ion beams exhibit different properties when compared to standard and high-energy ion beams. Most notably, fragmentation is a fundamental feature of the beam that may have important implications for electronics testing given the ultrahigh energies and, hence, ranges, preserved by the fragments.
