Time domain stochastic cooling simulations : transverse and filter cooling / Tsiantis, Vasileios (Aristotle U., Thessaloniki) ; Gamba, Davide (CERN) ; Carli, Christian (CERN) ; Sittard, Daniel (CERN) ; Höfle, Wolfgang (CERN) ; Franck Rey, Stephane (CERN)
Stochastic cooling is a technique for reducing the phase space volume of particle beams in accelerators improving the experimental conditions for facilities like Antiproton Decelerator at CERN. We present a stochastic cooling simulation model, for transverse and longitudinal plane. [...]

Commissioning CMS online reconstruction with GPUs / Huwiler, Marc (U. Zurich (main)) /CMS Collaboration
Building on top of the multithreading functionality that was introduced in LHC Run-2, the CMS software framework (CMSSW) has been extended in LHC Run-3 to offload part of the physics reconstruction to NVIDIA GPUs. The first application of this new feature is the High Level Trigger (HLT): the new computing farm installed at the beginning of LHC Run-3 is composed of 200 nodes, and for the first time each one is equipped with two AMD Milan CPUs and two NVIDIA T4 GPUs. ALICE charming take on strangeness enhancement in pp collisions / Triolet, Andrea Sofia (CERN) /ALICE Collaboration
Understanding strangeness enhancement in proton-proton (pp) collisions at the LHC is a challenge for hadronization models. Recent observations indicate that a substantial fraction of the detected Ω− baryons may originate from the decay of charm baryons, e.g. [...]

Gun and collector development on the electron cooler test stand (ECTS) / Khatri, Ghanshyambhai (CERN) ; Frassier, Alexandre (CERN) ; Cenede, Jean (CERN) ; Rossi, Adriana (CERN) ; Tranquille, Gerard Alain (CERN)
The electron cooler of the Antiproton Decelerator (AD) at CERN, that can operate with an electron beam of up to 2.4 A at 27 keV, is scheduled for replacement during the upcoming Long Shutdown 3 (LS3). A newly designed electron gun and collector—optimized for enhanced reliability, efficiency, and operational performance—are undergoing rigorous testing and validation at the dedicated Electron Cooler Test Stand (ECTS).The new electron collector features a re-engineered cooling system, where the water circuit is fully decoupled from the vacuum environment, significantly reducing the risk of vacuum leaks. CernVM 5: a versatile container-based platform to run HEP applications / Eberhardt, Jakob (Karlsruhe, Forschungszentrum) ; Blomer, Jakob (CERN)
Since its inception, the minimal Linux image CernVM provides a portable and reproducible runtime environment for developing and running scientific software. Its key ingredient is the tight coupling with the CernVM-FS client to provide access to the base platform (operating system and tools) as well as the experiment application software. [...]

Observation of a cross-section enhancement near the $t\bar{t}$ production threshold in $\sqrt{s} = 13$ TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector /ATLAS Collaboration
A measurement of $t\bar{t}$ production is presented in the invariant-mass region near the pair production threshold, $m_{t\bar{t}} \sim 345$ GeV, in final states with two charged leptons and multiple jets. The measurement is based on $140\,\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of proton–proton collision data collected at $\sqrt{s} = 13$ TeV with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. [...]

Resolving Bottlenecks in Quantum Machine Learning: Encoding Theory and Data Augmentation / Baidachna, Mariia (Glasgow U.) ; Pedraza, Isabel (CERN) ; Gleyzer, Sergei (Alabama U.)
Quantum machine learning (QML) models operating on classical data require an encoding step to map information into the Hilbert space. However, this imposes a computational bottleneck absent in classical frameworks, necessitating rigorous theoretical complexity analysis and algorithmic mitigations. [...]

Simpler, faster and bigger: HEP analysis in the LHC Run 3 era / Guiraud, Enrico (CERN)
The production, validation and revision of data analysis applications is an iterative process that occupies a large fraction of a researcher’s time-to-publication. Providing interfaces that are simpler to use correctly and more performant out-of-the-box not only reduces the community’s average time-to-insight but it also unlocks completely novel approaches that were previously impractically slow or complex.
