Site-wide security software upgrade for all CERN General Purpose network equipment

On Saturday, December 2 2006, a site-wide security software upgrade, for all CERN General Purpose network equipment (offices, computer center, experiments except the LHC experiments networks), will be performed. This maintenance will provoke a minimum of 2 short network interruptions lasting 2 minutes each for all users. There are thousands of pieces equipment involved in this upgrade all over CERN, affecting all network users and services on the sites (Meyrin, Prévessin and all General Purpose networks covering SPS and LHC pits), and it will take all day to treat them all. The Technical Network and the SM18 magnet test facility will not be concerned by this upgrade.
