From charged-particle multiplicities to the top quark

A series of key experimental results from the ATLAS detector at the LHC are presented. These results include the first measurements of charged-particle multiplicities from inelastic proton-proton collisions, W boson production, and recent top cross-section results. The measurements were performed using part or most of the 2010 proton-proton data set, corresponding to a total luminosity of 45pb-1. The experimental methods involved in these measurements are discussed. Results are compared with recent theoretical predictions and possible 2011 measurements are outlined.
