ATOMIADE

2020 Winter Atomiade to be hosted by the CERN Ski Club.

“Grab your skis and snowboards and seize this amazing opportunity!”

The Atomiade is a sports event organised under the auspices of ASCERI (the Association of the Sports Communities of European Research Institutes). It is designed to foster human and sporting contacts of members of public research institutes at a European level.

Although the event centres around sports competition, the overriding goal is to have fun taking part and connect with peers from other European Scientific Research Institutes. The CERN Staff Association and CERN Management have always shown the greatest support for Atomiade events.

The Event

Over the course of a week, the Winter Atomiade includes alpine skiing, snowboarding and cross-country skiing challenges, as well as other more fun events in a friendly and convivial atmosphere. The next Atomiade 2020 will take place from 21th to 28th of March in the Avoriaz Resort with capacity for around 300 participants, all accommodated at the Belambra Holiday Club (former Club Med building, in the center of the resort).

In order to ensure the success of such a great event we will need plenty of volunteers to welcome participants, distribute materials, drinks, prizes and medals, as well as support for the various competitions.  Are you available to dedicate your time, skills and knowledge to this wonderful event? Please, contact us at atomiades-2020-committee@cern.ch.

Of course, we should also be delighted to welcome you as a participant and a member of the CERN team. As said above, no need to be a champion (challenges are accessible to class-2 participants, at ease on red slopes); willing to have fun and to share is the key point.
