Abstract
| The size and shape of the atomic nucleus are some of its most fundamental properties. However, their study remains limited to absolute measurements of stable isotopes or relative measurements for chains of radioisotopes. In a new series of campaigns at the Paul Scherrer Institute, muonic x-ray spectroscopy has been demonstrated on radioisotopes, opening the way to the study of absolute charge radii of radioactive nuclei with lifetimes down to 20 years. In this proposal, we request the production, separation, and collection of a series of radioisotopes that can subsequently be used at PSI for muonic x-ray spectroscopy. |
