An Efficient Algorithm for Extending Uniform Superposition States for Time-Series Data / Rieger, Carla (CERN ; Tech. U., Munich (main)) ; Grossi, Michele (CERN) ; Guerreschi, Gian Giacomo (Intel, Santa Clara) ; Vallecorsa, Sofia (CERN) ; Werner, Martin (Tech. U., Munich (main))
Leveraging fundamental quantum features such as quantum superposition is one of the key elements for the theoretical speed-up obtained in quantum algorithms, e.g., with Grover's search algorithm. In this work, we explore the novel concept of dynamic state preparation, which allows for extending an initially prepared superposition state already containing a set of data elements. [...]

Luminosity determination in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 13\;\mbox{TeV}$ using the ATLAS detector at the LHC / Carter, Joseph William (Department of Physics, University of Toronto) /ATLAS Collaboration
This poster describes the preliminary determination of the integrated luminosity for $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 13\;\mbox{TeV}$ recorded by the ATLAS detector during Run 2 of the LHC in the years 2015-2018. The absolute luminosity scale was determined using van der Meer scans during dedicated running periods in each year, and extrapolated to the physics data-taking regime using complementary measurements from several luminosity-sensitive detectors. An evaluation of the potential of GPUs to accelerate tracking algorithms for the ATLAS trigger / Baines, JTM (STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory) ; Bristow, TM (University of Edinburgh) ; Emeliyanov, D (STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory) ; Howard, JR (University of Oxford) ; Kama, S (Southern Methodist University) ; Washbrook, AJ (University of Edinburgh) ; Wynne, BM (University of Edinburgh)
The potential of GPUs has been evaluated as a possible way to accelerate trigger algorithms for the ATLAS experiment located at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). During LHC Run-1 ATLAS employed a three-level trigger system to progressively reduce the LHC collision rate of 20 MHz to a storage rate of about 600 Hz for offline processing. [...]

Performance of the ATLAS Calorimeter High-Level Trigger in the LHC Run 1 Data Taking period / Oliveira Damazio, D (BNL)
The ATLAS detector operated very successfully at the LHC Run 1 data taking period collecting a large number of events used for the discovery of the Higgs boson as well as for the search for beyond the Standard Model physics. In the main search channels related to the finding of the Higgs, the ATLAS calorimeter system played a major role in measuring the energy of photons, electrons, jets, taus as well as global missing transverse energy.
