Tech., Madras) ; Berlea, D V (DESY ; Humboldt U., Berlin (main)) ; Bortoletto, D (U. Oxford (main)) ; Buttar, C (Glasgow U.) ; Dao, V (Stony Brook U.) ; Dash, G (Indian Inst. Tech., Madras) ; Acedo, L F Sanz De (CERN) ; Gazi, M (U. Oxford (main)) et al.
This work presents recent results and the future outlook of the MALTA monolithic active pixel sensor, developed in 180 nm CMOS technology for operation in high-radiation, high-rate environments. The MALTA2 sensor has been extensively characterized under irradiation up to $5 \times 10^{15} \mathrm{n} \_\text{eq} / \text{cm}^{2}$. [...]

Advancements in Nb$_3$Sn 12 T Cos-Theta Dipole Development for Next-Generation Accelerators: The INFN-CERN Collaboration on the FalconD Project / Farinon, Stefania (INFN, Genoa) ; Sala, Nicola (INFN, Genoa) ; Alfonso, Luca (INFN, Genoa) ; Beneduce, Enrico (LASA, Segrate ; Milan U.) ; Bersani, Andrea (INFN, Genoa) ; Caiffi, Barbara (INFN, Genoa) ; Cannavò, Massimiliano (LASA, Segrate ; Milan U.) ; Crespi, Gabriele (LASA, Segrate) ; Dotti, Simone (LASA, Segrate) ; Foussat, Arnaud (CERN) et al.
Research for next-generation accelerators necessitates the development of high-field bending dipoles, which are critical for achieving precise beam control and optimizing efficiency. Among the promising superconducting materials is Nb$_3$Sn, which has already demonstrated its effectiveness in accelerator magnets, such as the MQXF quadrupoles used in the high-luminosity upgrade of the LHC. A European Collaboration to Investigate Superconducting Magnets for Next Generation Heavy Ion Therapy / Rossi, L (LASA, Segrate ; Milan U.) ; Ballarino, A (CERN) ; Barna, D (Wigner RCP, Budapest) ; Benedetto, E (CERN) ; Calzolaio, C (PSI, Villigen) ; Ceruti, G (LASA, Segrate ; Milan U.) ; De Matteis, E (LASA, Segrate ; Milan U.) ; Echeandia, A (Elytt, Madrid) ; Ekelof, T (Uppsala U.) ; Farinon, S (INFN, Genoa) et al.
Next generation ion therapy magnets both for gantry and for accelerator (synchrotron) are under investigation in a recently launched European collaboration that, in the frame of the European H2020 HITRI plus and I.FAST programmes, has obtained some funding for work packages on superconducting magnets. Design and technology of superconducting magnets will be developed for ion therapy synchrotron and -especially- gantry, taking as reference beams of 430 MeV/nucleon ions (C-ions) with 10 10 ions/pulse. Commissioning of the FASER Trigger and Data Acquisition Prior to Proton-proton Collision Data-taking at the LHC / Antel, Claire /FASER Collaboration
FASER is a newly installed experiment at the LHC designed to search for long lived particles produced in high energy proton collisions and decaying several 100 meters downstream. As the experiment aims to measure a rare hypothetical process, it is crucial that the experiment’s trigger and data acquisition (TDAQ) system runs reliably and with minimal deadtime, quick to catch errors and raise alerts. The LHCb DAQ Upgrade for LHC Run3 / Colombo, Tommaso (CERN) ; Durante, Paolo (CERN) ; Galli, Domenico (INFN, Bologna) ; Marconi, Umberto (INFN, Bologna) ; Neufeld, Niko (CERN) ; Pisani, Flavio (CERN ; INFN, Bologna ; Bologna U.) ; Schwemmer, Rainer (CERN) ; Valat, Sébastien (CERN) ; Voneki, Balazs (CERN)
In order to optimize the physics reach in the large hadron collider (LHC) Run3, foreseen in the years 2021 and beyond, the LHC beauty experiment collaboration has decided to re-design its detector and the data acquisition system (DAQ). The new detector will operate at the LHC bunch-crossing frequency of 40 MHz without hardware trigger. [...]

A 32 Terabit/s Data Acquisition from Mostly COTS Components / Schwemmer, Rainer (CERN) ; Neufeld, Niko (CERN)
The Large Hadron Collider beauty (LHCb) data acquisition after 2019 will need to perform event-building at an aggregated band-width of 32 Tbit/s. Apart from the technological challenges described in various papers also at this conference, the key challenge is to come up with an architecture which minimises the cost, while providing a system which can be maintained by a small team for a long time and which scales well. All Dots Connected - Preemptive feature search and online indexing for next-generation HEP experiments / Meschi, Emilio (CERN)
Several future HEP experiments under design or construction, including the HL-LHC upgrades, will feature massive high-precision trackers, extreme granularity calorimeters, some based on silicon sensors, and improved muon systems capable of high-efficiency identification. The use of fast optical links enables unprecedented data rates to fully exploit these detectors, however, in many instances, power/cooling infrastructure and the subsequent material budget force the choice of a two-stage data acquisition to limit the readout rates. Perugia (main) ; INFN, Italy) ; Conti, Elia (CERN) ; Christiansen, Jorgen (CERN)
A large scale pixel readout chip is being designed by the RD53 Collaboration, in order to prove the suitability of 65 nm technology for the extreme operating conditions foreseen for the High Luminosity upgrades of the ATLAS and CMS experiments at CERN. The use of advanced digital design and simulation tools is essential to guide architectural and implementation choices for the design and optimisation of pixel chips which will be powered from a serial powering scheme.
