    <abstract>During assembly of the hybrid to the pedestal it was found to be difficult to maintain the position of the top edge of the silicon relative to the centre line of the module to within the given Â±100Âµm tolerance. This was felt to be caused by a combination of the twist (fourth corner deviation) of the substrate [1] and the tapering cross sectional profile of the gluing tongue [2], that resulted in the hybrid leaning either backward or forward in excess of the Â±100Âµm. A decision was taken to increase the acceptance tolerance for the top of the silicon when the module was free standing to Â±400Âµm in Z, and to provide a constraining mechanism to centre it back to within the original tolerance on installation. The constraint had to sit on, and fasten to, the existing platform and be within the space left in the enclosed foil/box when all 21 modules are already assembled in the A or C half. The constraint mechanism had to satisfy the requirements that it be stiff enough to maintain the module positions, have a very low mass, be suitable for use in a vacuum and survive a very large radiation dose.</abstract>
