1957 The nearly finished building towards the left houses the 600 MeV Synchro-Cyclotron (SC). Towards the right, one sees the circular structure of the 26 GeV Proton-Synchrotron (PS). 4 months after this picture was taken, the SC began operation, on 1 August 1957. The PS accelerated protons to 24 GeV on 24 November 1959. Le bâtiment à gauche, en train d'être terminé, abrite le Synchro-Cyclotron (SC) a 600 MeV. A la droite on apercoit la structure circulaire du Synchrotron à Protons (PS) à 26 GeV. 4 mois après la prise de cette photo, le SC entrait en opération, le 1er août 1957.
