The ALICE Magnetic System Computation.
/ Klempt, W ; Leistam, L ; Swoboda, Detlef
/ALICE Collaboration
In this note we present the first results from the ALICE magnetic system computation performed in the 3-dimensional way with the Vector Fields TOSCA code (version 6.5) [1]. To make the calculations we have used the IBM RISC System 6000-370 and 6000-550 machines combined in the CERN PaRC UNIX cluster..

Bending Test of Conductor for ALICE and LHCb Dipole Magnets
/ Giudici, P A ; Swoboda, Detlef ; Flegel, W
/ALICE Collaboration
Abstract It is foreseen that the coils for the two magnets will be manufactured by winding flat pancakes, which are subsequently shaped to a semi-cylindrical form (ALICE) or bent by 45 degrees (LHCb). We propose here several methods and describe tests that were performed to estimate tolerances and forces which will have to be expected during the manufacturing process [...]

Detector Control System for an LHC experiment - User Requirements Document
/ALICE Collaboration
The purpose of this document is to provide the user requirements for a detector control system kernel for the LHC experiments following the ESA standard PSS-05 [1]. The first issue will be used to provide the basis for an evaluation of possible development philosophies for a kernel DCS. [...]

Design and Status of the Dipole Spectrometer Magnet for the ALICE Experiment
/ Bartenev, V D ; Bogoslovsky, G Yu ; Datskov, V I ; Koshurnikov, E ; Shabounov, A ; Shishov, Yu A ; Swoboda, Detlef ; Vodopyanov, A S
Proposal of abstract for MT16, Tallahesse, Florida, 26th September to 2nd October 1999.A large Dipole Magnet is required for the Muon Arm Spectrometer of the ALICE experiment at the LHC.The absence of strong requirements on the symmetry and homogeneity of the magnetic field has lead to a design dominated by economic and feasibility considerations. In March 1997 the decision was taken to build a resistive dipole magnet for the muon spectrometer of the ALICE experiment. Since then, design work has been pursued in JINR/Russia and at CERN. [...]
