ATLAS Charged Higgs Boson Searches
/ Assamagan, K ; Behar, S ; Coniavitis, E ; Dufour, M -A ; Ehrich, T ; Flechl, M ; Gross, E ; Lane, J ; Mohn, B ; Mohrdieck-Möck, S et al.
The discovery of a charged Higgs boson would be a definite signal for the existence of New Physics beyond the Standard Model, possibly the first experimental evidence to be found. This note presents the ATLAS potential for discovering a charged Higgs boson, utilizing six different final states of the signal arising from the three dominating fermionic decay modes of the charged Higgs boson. A Data-driven Control Sample for $Z\rightarrow\tau^+\tau^- + \mbox{ jets}$ Backgrounds to Higgs Searches
/ Vickey, T; Chen, X; Mellado, B; Quayle, W; Wu, S L
The $Z\rightarrow\tau\tau$ process is a major contribution to the backgrounds for both Standard Model (SM) $H\rightarrow\tau\tau$ and Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) $h/A/H\rightarrow\tau\tau$ channels in the lepton-lepton, lepton-hadron and hadron-hadron final states. As the relative contributions from this background in different jet multiplicities are not known, and unknowns related to critical analysis cut-specific variables exist (e.g., the Central Jet Veto and event missing energy), the subtraction of these backgrounds using a data-driven method is ideal. The ATLAS discovery potential for MSSM neutral Higgs bosons decaying into muon, tau, supersymmetric particle pairs
/ Gentile, S (Rome U. ; INFN, Rome)
/for the ATLAS Collaboration
The discovery potential for MSSM neutral Higgs bosons in the ATLAS experiment at centre-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}$ = 14 TeV at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is discussed. The discovery and exclusion sensitivity in the (m$_A$, tan$\beta$) plane in different luminosity scenarios is discussed for three processes: h/A/H decaying into $\tau\tau$ or into $\mu\mu$ pairs or in supersymmetric particles (heavy neutralino/chargino pairs)..

Detection of Long-Lived Neutral Particles with ATLAS
/ Policicchio, A
A number of extensions of the Standard Model result in particles that are neutral, weakly-coupled and have macroscopic decay lengths comparable with LHC detector dimensions. These long-lived particles occur in many models: gauge-mediated SUSY extensions of the MSSM (addition of one singlet field), MSSM with R-parity violation, split SUSY, inelastic dark matter and Hidden Valley (HV) Scenarios in which a new sector is weakly coupled to the Standard Model. Searches for a Neutral MSSM Higgs Boson Decaying to $ au_h au_l$ in $sqrt{s} = 7$ TeV Collisions at the ATLAS Experiment
/ Leney, KJC (University of Liverpool, University of the Witwatersrand); Burdin, S (University of Liverpool); Vickey, T (University of the Witwatersrand, University of Oxford)
A low mass Standard Model Higgs boson will require at least 10invfb~data before a discovery (or exclusion) can be claimed, but extensions to the Standard Model that realise Supersymmetry predict that there should be three neutral Higgs bosons. The production cross-section is strongly enhanced and it is therefore expected that competitive limits on an MSSM Higgs boson can be made using data from the 2010-2011 LHC data-taking period (1invfb~expected with 7~TeV~centre-of-mass collisions). Search for charged Higgs bosons in the $\tau\mbox{(hadronic)}$+jets final state with 1.03 fb$^{−1}$ of $pp$ collision data recorded at $\sqrt{s} = 7$ TeV with the ATLAS Experiment
/ Czodrowski, P; Flechl, M; Isaksson, C; Kopp, A; Martyniuk, A; McCarn, A; Owen, M; zur Nedden, M; Neubauer, M; Patel, N et al.
The experimental observation of charged Higgs bosons, $H^{\pm}$, which are predicted by many theories with an extended Higgs sector, would indicate new physics beyond the Standard Model. In the minimal supersymmetric extension to the Standard Model (MSSM), for example, the dominant production mode at the LHC for these Higgs bosons, when $m_{H^+} < m_t$, takes place in $t\overline{t}$ events via the top quark decay $t\rightarrow H^{+}b$ with $H^{+}\rightarrow\tau\nu$ dominating for most values of $\tan\beta$, the ratio of the vacuum expectation values of the two Higgs doublets. The analysis is based on proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of $7\TeV$, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.66 fb$^{-1}$ and focuses on Higgs decays into two tau leptons, $A^0/H^0/h^0\to\tau^+\tau^-$, one tau lepton decays via $\tau \rightarrow \mu \nu_{\tau} \nu_{\mu}$ and the other decays via $\tau \rightarrow e \nu_{\tau} \nu_e$. Search for H+->tau(had)+nu in ATLAS
/ Czodrowski, P (Technical University Dresden, Germany)
This talk shall summarize the search efforts of the ATLAS collaboration for the (light) charged Higgs bosons decaying into hadronically decaying tau leptons and with a special focus on the presentation the new results which were won by utilizing the an ratio method approach on the so called tau+lepton final state. These new results are then combined with the existing ones from the other final states yielding improved sensitivity. [...]

Search for Long-lived Particles and Lepton-Jets with the ATLAS detector
/ Salvatore, D (Calabria U.)
/for the ATLAS collaboration
Many extensions of the Standard Model (SM) include neutral weakly-coupled particles that can be long-lived. These long-lived particles occur in many models, included gauge-mediated extensions of the Minimal Supersymmetric Model (MSSM), MSSM with R-parity violation, inelastic dark matter and the Hidden Valley (HV) scenario. BSM Higgs results from ATLAS and CMS
/ Flechl, Martin (Freiburg U.)
/on behalf of the ATLAS and CMS collaborations
Searches for Higgs bosons in different extensions of the Standard Model (SM) are presented. These include the Minimal Supersymmetric extension of the SM (MSSM), the next-to-MSSM (NMSSM), models with additional scalar singlets, doublets, or triplets, and generic searches for models with couplings modified with respect to the SM or for non-SM Higgs boson decay channels. Summary of the searches for squarks and gluinos using $\sqrt{s}$ = 8 TeV $pp$ collisions with the ATLAS experiment at the LHC
/ ATLAS Collaboration
A summary is presented of ATLAS searches for gluinos and first- and second-generation squarks in final states containing jets and missing transverse momentum, with or without leptons or $b$-jets, in the $\sqrt{s}$ = 8 TeV data set collected at the Large Hadron Collider in 2012. This paper reports the results of new interpretations and statistical combinations of previously published analyses, as well as a new analysis. Since no significant excess of events over the Standard Model expectation is observed, the data are used to set limits in a variety of models. [...]

Summary of the ATLAS experiment's sensitivity to supersymmetry after LHC Run 1 - interpreted in the phenomenological MSSM
/ ATLAS Collaboration
A summary of the constraints from the ATLAS experiment on $R$-parity conserving supersymmetry is presented. Results from 22 separate ATLAS searches are considered, each based on analysis of up to 20.3 fb$^{-1}$ of proton-proton collision data at the centre-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 and 8 TeV at the Large Hadron Collider. The results are interpreted in the context of the 19-parameter phenomenological minimal supersymmetric standard model, in which the lightest supersymmetric particle is a neutralino, taking into account constraints from previous precision electroweak and flavour measurements as well as from dark matter related measurements. The results are presented in terms of constraints on supersymmetric particle masses and are compared to limits from simplified models. [...]

Higgs boson parameters and decays into fermions
/ Bluj, Michal Jacek (NCBJ, Swierk)
/ATLAS and CMS Collaborations
In 2012 the discovery of a new boson with a mass of about 125 GeV and properties in agreement with those expected for the Higgs boson in the standard model was announced. In this note we review the results of searches for the fermionic decays the Higgs boson and the study of its properties performed with the proton-proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS and CMS detectors at the LHC in 2011 and 2012, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of approximately 5~fb$^{-1}$ and approximately 20~fb$^{-1}$ per experiment at $\sqrt{s}=7$~TeV and $\sqrt{s}=8$~TeV, respectively.
