Long-term aging studies on Resistive Plate Chambers (RPC) of the CMS muon system for HL-LHC / Gelmi, Andrea (INFN, Bari ; Bari U.) /CMS Collaboration
During the phase II of the LHC physics program, called High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC), the accelerator will increase the instantaneous luminosity up to 5$\times$10$^{34}$cm$^{-2}$s$^{-1}$, providing to experiments an additional integrated luminosity of about 3000 fb$^{-1}$ over 10 years of operation, starting in 2026. The present Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) Resistive Plate Chambers (RPC) system has been certified for 10 LHC years operation, at maximum background rate of 300 Hz/cm$^{2}$ and 50 mC/cm$^{2}$ as integrated charge. Geant4 simulation of a Triple-GEM detector exposed to the CHARM field at CERN / Vai, Ilaria (INFN, Pavia ; Pavia U.) /CMS Collaboration
The ME0 station has been proposed for the installation in the CMS muon system in the region $2.03 < \vert \eta \vert < 2.82$, with the aim of increasing the detector acceptance for physics with muons. This region, presently not instrumented, is characterized by a very harsh radiation environment, which can reach rates up to 30 kHz/cm$^2$ and an integrated charge of the order of 200 mC/cm$^2$ over ten years of operation. Top pair production measurements, inclusive and differential / Fernandez Menendez, Javier (Oviedo U.) /ATLAS, CMS and LHCB Collaborations
Recent results and state-of-the-art on top-quark pair production cross sections in both inclusive and differential measurements are presented, obtained using data collected with the ATLAS, CMS and LHCb experiments during the LHC Run1 and Run2 periods up to the year 2016 at centre-of-mass energies ranging from 5.02 to 13TeV. Results are confronted against Standard Model (SM) next-to-leading order (NLO) and next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) predictions, several Monte Carlo (MC) generators and tunes, and parton density function variations, with a special focus on the latest Run2 results..
