HEALTH INSURANCE: FIXED CONTRIBUTION AND REIMBURSEMENT MAXIMA

Affected by the salary adjustments on 1 January 2001 and the evolution of the staff members and fellows population, the average reference salary, which is used as an index for fixed contributions and reimbursement maxima, has changed significantly. An adjustment of the amounts of the reimbursement maxima and the fixed contributions is therefore necessary, as from 1 January 2001.

Reimbursement maxima

The revised reimbursement maxima will appear on the leaflet summarizing the benefits for the year 2001, which will be sent out with the forthcoming issue of the CHIS Bull'. This leaflet will also be available from the divisional secretariats and from the UNIQA office at CERN.

Fixed contributions

The fixed contributions, applicable to some categories of voluntarily insured persons, are set as follows (amounts in CHF for monthly contributions) :

  • voluntarily insured member of the personnel, with normal health insurance cover : 910.- (was 815.- in 2000)
  • voluntarily insured member of the personnel, with reduced health insurance cover : 455.- (was 407.- in 2000)
  • voluntarily insured no longer dependent child : 364.- (was 326.- in 2000).
Complementary contribution for a spouse

Declaration of family situation :

Staff members, fellows and pensioners insured with the CERN Health Insurance Scheme, whose spouse (not being remunerated by CERN) has an income, are obliged to notify CERN (Social and Statutory Conditions group, HR Division) of any change in the income or the insurance of their spouse. Adjustments of salaries and pensions may have triggered such a change.
Forms entitled 'Confidential Declaration of family situation' are available from divisional secretariats, from the Pension Fund Administration, and as a printable document at the following address :

Adjustment

The amounts of the monthly complementary contribution are affected by the change in contribution rates and the reference salary.
