TRANS 2004 festival on 4 and 5 September 2004

This French-Swiss cross-border festival offers a mixture of group and individual activities calling on both the mental and the physical prowess of its participants. This year, the second day of the festival will be held at CERN's Meyrin site in celebration of the Organization's fiftieth anniversary.
The programme for this second day of events on Sunday, 5 September includes a cycle ride of about thirty kilometres from Versoix to CERN through all the participating communes, as well as petanque, quizzes, children's games, a lunch comprising dishes from all over Europe and a whole host of other things. In addition, Microcosm will be open in the afternoon and the 'Fun with Physics' presenters will offer the opportunity to sample their special liquid-nitrogen icecream.
The programme for Saturday, 4 September comprises a football tournament in Saint-Genis, a dictation competition in Versoix or a cross-border tennis competition. For more details (in French), see last week's Bulletin (No. 36/2004).
