Important notice for Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 computers

Microsoft is ending support for Windows 2000 Service Pack 3, which was introduced in 2002. As a consequence, computers running Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 (or older versions1)) must be updated.
It is recommended that Windows 2000 computers be re-installed with Windows XP Service Pack 2 (see http://cern.ch/Win/Services/Installation/Diane). If this is not possible for compatibility reasons, Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 must be installed to ensure the computers continue to receive security patches (see http://cern.ch/Win/Docs/2000SP4).
In the next few days, NICE 2000 computers requiring an update will receive a pop-up window with instructions. Users requiring help with the update can contact Helpdesk@cern.ch or call 78888.
If your computer needs to be updated you are recommended to read the additional information available at http://cern.ch/Win/Docs/2000SP3.

1) To determine your Windows service pack version, use the ‘Start' button and select ‘Run'. In the new window that opens, type ‘winver' then press the Enter key. The Windows version (2000 or XP) and service pack version appear in the new window that opens.
