In 2012, CERN and Wilton Park hosted the pioneering international conference “The Big Bank and the interfaces of knowledge: towards a common language?” The purpose of this conference was to enable scientists from a range of disciplines to dialogue with philosophers and theologians from the world religions about the nature of the Big Bang. What understandings might scientists and theologians share in common? How are their paradigms shaped and developed? Is it possible to develop a common framework or language. The conference gained global attention.

A follow-up conference will be held on 23-25 June 2014 with the purpose of widening the spectrum of scientists, theologians and philosophers involved to continue the dialogue following one of the key themes that emerged during the first meeting – the nature and the understanding of “truth”.
