Le Jardin des Particules is enjoying a well-deserved holiday after a hectic end of year disrupted by the COVID-19 crisis!

Exceptional location, exceptional organization

Le Jardin des Particules (JDP) has again this year experienced an exceptional situation that has led to many changes in the organization of the structure. Indeed, COVID-19 forced us to close our doors on March 16 and all the children and staff had to stay at home. And it was only from mid-May that the gradual resumption, first of the crèche, then of the school, could be achieved by strictly following the health instructions issued by the State of Geneva and CERN. This enabled the children to return to school before the end of the school year.

Children happy to return to the JDP

"The recovery went very well, the children were happy to be back," says JDP Director Carole Dargagnon. The main concern was to ensure the safety of the children, parents and staff in terms of health without traumatizing the children in their daily care, which was an intense balancing act.

The effective collaboration between CERN's services was established. In particular with the HSE department for the health part and the SMB department for the timely replenishment of essential materials to ensure the reopening of the JDP. Many thanks to all CERN services for their precious help!

Since 28 June, the JDP has been closed for the summer holidays. It is now time for us to take stock of the situation and to thank all the people who have worked on the reopening of the structure in conditions that were not always easy, both emotionally and logistically.

First of all, we would like to thank the Director and her strength of mobilization around Le Jardin des Particules despite the constant changes in the situation and the inherent uncertainties. A big thanks also to the professional team for its dedication to the structure and the continuous support it has provided throughout the past few months.

Thanks also to the parents who have helped us throughout this very strange period.

And finally, a big thanks to the Staff Association for its support and involvement with the JDP.

Le Jardin des Particules continues to move forward: a new building for the new school year!

After all these adventures, we are happy to announce that the JDP will open its doors on August 24th for the start of the school year 2020-2021. This new year will be a year of change as the JDP will be moving into its new premises.

A new building was constructed during the spring 2020 and will allow us to welcome children from 4 months to 6 years old in brand new premises that meet the standards imposed by the Geneva authorities for childcare. The move will take place during the month of August.

Registrations for the new school year 2020-2021

We would also like to draw your attention to the fact that there are still a few places available in school and a few places in the nursery.

There is still time to register!

If you wish to have more information, please do not hesitate to contact the JDP secretariat or consult the JDP website.

The management committee of the Jardin des Particules wishes all children and adults a nice holiday and a beautiful summer 2020. Take care of yourselves and your loved ones!
