Searches for singly- and doubly-charged Higgs bosons in ATLAS / Horii, Yasuyuki (Nagoya University (JP)) /ATLAS Collaboration
In the Standard Model, one doublet of complex scalar fields is the minimal content of the Higgs sector in order to achieve spontaneous electroweak symmetry breaking. However, several theories beyond the Standard Model predict a non-minimal Higgs sector and introduce charged scalar fields that do not exist in the Standard Model. [...]

Searches for axion-like-particles (ALPs) in Higgs boson decays in ATLAS / Martinez Suarez, Paula (The Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) (ES)) /ATLAS Collaboration
Searches for axion-like-particles (ALPs) in Higgs boson decays, as well as searches for ALP production with two top quarks are presented, using LHC collision data at 13 TeV collected by the ATLAS experiment in Run 2. The searches cover a mass range of ALPs below the Z-boson mass. [...]

Optimizing the ATLAS Geant4 Detector Simulation / Schmidt, Mustafa Andre (Bergische Universitaet Wuppertal (DE)) /ATLAS Collaboration
The ATLAS experiment at the LHC heavily depends on simulated event samples produced by a full Geant4 detector simulation. This Monte Carlo (MC) simulation based on Geant4 was a major consumer of computing resources during the 2018 data-taking year and is anticipated to remain one of the dominant resource users in the HL-LHC era. Improving Computational Performance of a GNN Track Reconstruction Pipeline for ATLAS / ATLAS Collaboration
Track reconstruction is an essential element of modern and future collider experiments, including within the ATLAS detector. The HL-LHC upgrade of the ATLAS detector brings an unprecedented tracking challenge, both in terms of number of silicon hit cluster readouts, and throughput required for both high level trigger and offline track reconstruction. [...]

Using Legacy ATLAS C++ Calibration Tools in Modern Columnar Analysis Environments - Poster for ACAT 2024 / Kourlitis, Vangelis (Technische Universitat Munchen (DE)) ; Vigl, Matthias (Technische Universitat Munchen (DE)) ; Krumnack, Nils Erik (Iowa State University (US)) ; Feickert, Matthew (University of Wisconsin Madison (US)) ; Stark, Giordon Holtsberg (University of California,Santa Cruz (US)) ; Heinrich, Lukas Alexander (Technische Universitat Munchen (DE)) ; Watts, Gordon (University of Washington (US)) ; Held, Alexander (University of Wisconsin Madison (US)) ; Hartmann, Nikolai (Ludwig Maximilians Universitat (DE)) /ATLAS Collaboration
The ATLAS experiment at the LHC relies on crucial tools written in C++ to calibrate physics objects and estimate systematic uncertainties in the event-loop analysis environment. However, these tools face compatibility challenges with the columnar analysis paradigm that operates on many events at once in Python/Awkward or RDataFrame environments. [...]

With the coming luminosity increase at the High Luminosity LHC, the ATLAS experiment will find itself facing a significant challenge in processing the hundreds of petabytes of data that will be produced by the detector. The computing tasks faced by the LHC experiments such as ATLAS are primarily throughput limited, and our frameworks are optimized to run these on High Throughput Computing resources. [...]

Observation of top-quark pair production in p+Pb collisions in the ATLAS experiment / Mondal, Santu (Czech Technical University in Prague (CZ)) /ATLAS Collaboration
Top quarks, the heaviest elementary particles carrying colour charges, are considered to be attractive candidates for probing the quark-gluon plasma produced in relativistic heavy-ion collisions. In proton-lead collisions, top-quark production is expected to be sensitive to nuclear modifications of parton distribution functions at high Bjoerken-x values, which are difficult to access experimentally using other available probes. [...]

Search for Rare Processes and Lepton-flavor Violation Decays of Higgs Boson at ATLAS Experiment / Zhou, Bing (University of Michigan (US)) /ATLAS Collaboration
The Standard Model predicts several rare Higgs boson processes, among which are the production in association with c-quarks, the decays to a Z boson and a photon, to a low-mass lepton pair and a photon, and to a meson and photon. The observation of some of these processes could open the possibility of studying the coupling properties of the Higgs boson in a complementary way to other analyses. [...]

Search for monopole production in ultraperipheral Pb+Pb collisions with the ATLAS / Ciesla, Krzysztof (AGH University of Krakow (PL)) /ATLAS Collaboration
A search for low-mass magnetic monopoles is presented using 0.262 nb$^{-1}$ of Run 3 Pb+Pb collision data at $\sqrt{s_{\textrm{NN}}}=5.36$ TeV collected by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. In ultraperipheral Pb+Pb collisions, large electromagnetic fields enable the generation of magnetic monopole pairs ($M\bar{M}$) via the Schwinger mechanism. [...]
