RPC Radiation Background Simulations for the High Luminosity Phase in the CMS Experiment / Carpinteyro, Bernardino (Puebla U., Inst. Fis.) /CMS Collaboration The high luminosity expected from the HL-LHC will be a challenge for the CMS detector. The increased rate of particles coming from the collisions and the radioactivity induced in the detector material could cause significant damage and result in a progressive degradation of its performance. CMS RPC efficiency measurement using the tag-and-probe method / Goh, Junghwan (Hanyang U.) /CMS Collaboration We measure the efficiency of CMS Resistive Plate Chamber (RPC) detectors in proton-proton collisions at the centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV~using the tag-and-probe method. A muon from a $Z^0$ boson decay is selected as a probe of efficiency measurement, reconstructed using the CMS inner tracker and the rest of CMS muon systems. The Higgs boson at the LHC: standard model Higgs properties and beyond standard model searches / Magnan, Anne-marie (Imperial Coll., London) /ATLAS and CMS Collaborations After the discovery of a new particle in 2012 by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations, since then identified to be the standard model Higgs boson, a brief review is made of recent results using LHC data taken at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV in 2016. The SM Higgs boson properties continue to be studied with greater precision, and all production modes and decay channels are probed, including the production in association with top quark, whose $5\sigma$ observation is made possible by the data accumulated so far. New method of out-of-time energy subtraction for the CMS hadronic calorimeter / Lawhorn, Jay Mathew (Caltech) /CMS Collaboration The CMS hadronic calorimeter employs plastic scintillator active material in the barrel and endcap (HBHE). In Run 2, the LHC operates at 13 TeV center of mass energy with up to 50 simultaneous collisions per bunch crossing (pileup) and a 25 ns bunch spacing. \boldmath R\&D results of iRPC tested at GIF++ for the CMS Phase-II upgrade / Lim, Jae Hoon (Korea U.) /CMS Collaboration During the CMS Phase-II upgrade for the High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC), the Resistive Plate Chamber (RPC) system of the CMS muon system will be extended up to a pseudorapidity ($\eta$) region of 2.4. When the instantaneous luminosity reaches a maximum value of 7.5 $\times$ 10$^{34}$ cm$^{-2}$s$^{-1}$ in the future HL-LHC runs, the expected maximum particle rate of the RPC system of the extended $\eta$ region will be about 700 Hz/cm$^{2}$. In view of the expected background conditions, in the past few years, we have studied high-sensitive thin phenolic double-gap RPC prototypes to improve the rate capability. The improved Resistive Plate Chambers (iRPCs) have been studied with 100 GeV SPS H4 muon beams in the new Gamma Irradiation Facility (GIF++). The performance of the iRPC was tested with a maximum gamma rate of about 4 kHz/cm$^{2}$ by using a dedicated algorithm for clustering and tracking and meets the specifications to be operated in the future HL-LHC.. Searches for strong production of supersymmetry at CMS / Rad, Navid Khandan (Vienna, OAW) /CMS Collaboration Results of searches for the production of supersymmetric partners of gluons and quarks are presented. They are based on pp collisions recorded by the CMS experiment at sqrt(s) = 13 TeV. [...] CMS-CR-2018-135.- Geneva : CERN, 2018 - 7 p. B$\to\mu^{+}\mu^{-}$ rare decays at CMS / Fedi, Giacomo (INFN, Pisa) /CMS Collaboration We report on the results obtained from the search for leptonic decays $\mathrm{B^0_s}\to \mu^+\mu^-$ and $\mathrm{B^0}\to \mu^+\mu^-$ in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}=7$ TeV and 8 TeV, collected at CMS during 2011 and 2012 data-taking, for a total of 25 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We measured the branching fraction $\mathcal{B}$($\mathrm{B^0_s}\to \mu^+\mu^-$)=$(3.0^{+1.0}_{-0.9})\times 10^{-9}$ and we observed an excess of $\mathrm{B^0_s}\to \mu^+\mu^-$ events with a significance of 4.3 standard deviations. (YSF) Search for b-associated Z' in the dimuon final state at CMS / Rathjens, Denis (Texas A-M) /CMS Collaboration After finding the Higgs boson, hints at new physics at the LHC are scarce. An exception are the B-anomalies found by LHCb in R$_K$ and R$_K$* measurements, the latter two combining to a 4 sigma deviation from the SM. [...] CMS-CR-2018-098.- Geneva : CERN, 2018 - 6 p. Elliptic and higher-order azimuthal anisotropies via multiparticle correlations in pPb and PbPb collisions with the CMS experiment / Wang, Quan (Kansas U.) /CMS Collaboration The elliptic and higher-order azimuthal anisotropy Fourier harmonics ($v_n$) are obtained for pPb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 8.16$ TeV over a wide range of event multiplicities based on multiparticle correlations. The data were collected by the CMS experiment during the 2016 LHC run. [...] CMS-CR-2018-127.- Geneva : CERN, 2018 - 5 p. (YSF) Search for SUSY with a Highly Compressed Mass Spectrum in the Soft Single Lepton Channel with the CMS Experiment / Zarucki, Mateusz (Vienna, OAW) /CMS Collaboration SUSY models with compressed mass spectra are highly motivated by theoretical considerations, such as dark matter constraints and naturalness. The search targets simplified models in which the signal consists of top squark (stop) pair-production, followed by 4-body decays or decays via an intermediate chargino.
