U., Munich (main)) ; Losekamm, M J (Tech. U., Munich (main)) ; Maehrholz, T (Tech. U., Munich (main)) ; Paul, S (Tech. U., Munich (main))
The iFTDC front-end cards were originally developed for the COMPASS experiment, and were later adapted for the streaming readout of AMBER. AMBER is the successor to the COMPASS experiment at the M2 beam line at CERN. [...]

Measurements of the chiral anomaly at COMPASS / Maltsev, Andrii (Tech. U., Munich (main) ; Unlisted) /COMPASS Collaboration
Chiral symmetry of QCD can be exploited to build an effective field theory, the Chiral Perturbation Theory ($\chi PT$), which allows to describe the interactions of light mesons at low energies, where the standard perturbative expansion in the strong coupling constant is no longer possible.Verification of the predictions of $\chi PT$ and other low-energy phenomenological models in processes such as the $\pi \gamma \to \pi \pi$, $\pi \gamma \to \pi \eta$, $K \gamma \to K \pi$, which are driven by the chiral anomaly, is important for understanding the low-energy interactions of hadrons. This work focuses on the experimental verification of the strengths of so-called anomalous couplings, specifically the coupling of the $\pi \gamma \to \pi \pi$ process, denoted as $F_{3\pi}$, as well as other possible measurements aimed at testing the predictions of the chiral anomaly..

Measurements of transverse-momentum dependent effects in semi-inclusive DIS at Compass / Matousek, Jan (Charles U., Prague (main)) /COMPASS Collaboration
Its cornerstone were studies of hadron production in deep inelastic scattering (DIS), which can be interpreted in the transverse-momentum-dependent (TMD) factorisation framework, allowing to access the distributions of polarisation and transverse momentum of quarks within the nucleon in the language of TMD PDFs, and the hadronisation in terms of TMD fragmentation functions. The data collected with a liquid hydrogen target in 2016-2017 will soon bring new information on the transverse momentum and may allow for the first time to extract the transverse polarisation of quarks within an unpolarised nucleon described by the Boer-Mulders function. Understanding COMPASS data on $\pi^-+p\to\eta^{(\prime)}\pi^-+p$ in the double-Regge region / Pekeler, Henri (Bonn U., HISKP) /COMPASS Collaboration
Resonance production is known to be dominant at low $\eta^{(\prime)}\pi^-$ mass in the diffractive reaction $\pi^-+p\rightarrow\eta^{(\prime)}\pi^-+p$, while production via a double-Regge exchange process is contributing as a considerable background. At high $\eta^{(\prime)}\pi^-$ mass, double-Regge exchange becomes the dominant process. [...]

Spin Density Matrix Elements in exclusive vector meson muoproduction at COMPASS / Sandacz, Andrzej (NCBJ, Warsaw) /COMPASS Collaboration
We present results on Spin Density Matrix Elements (SDMEs) measured in hard exclusive muoproduction of ρ0 and ω mesons on the proton at COMPASS using 160 GeV/c polarized μ+ and μ− beams scattering off a liquid hydrogen target. The measurements cover the range 5 GeV/c2 < W < 17 GeV/c2, 1.0 (GeV/c)2 < Q2 < 10.0 (GeV/c)2 and 0.01 (GeV/c)2 < pT2 < 0.5 (GeV/c)2. [...]

Partial-wave decomposition of the diffractively produced $\pi^-\pi^+\pi^-\eta$ final state at COMPASS / Spülbeck, David (Bonn U., HISKP) /COMPASS Collaboration
One of the prime goals of the COMPASS experiment at CERN is the study of the light meson spectrum, with a particular emphasis on the search for exotic states. We present the first high-statistics partial-wave decomposition of the diffractive reaction $π^-+p\to π^-π^+π^-η+p$, which spans a wide range of decay channels, such as $f_1(1285)π^-$, $a_2^-(1320)η$, $η^\primeπ^-$, and $ρ(770)a_0^-(980)$. Study of the Hadron Structure Using the Polarised Drell-Yan Process at COMPASS / Quaresma, Márcia (LIP, Lisbon) /COMPASS Collaboration
The COMPASS experiment at CERN is one of the leading experiments studying the nucleon structure. The Parton Distribution Functions and the Transverse Momentum Dependent Parton Distribution Functions were extensively studied at COMPASS using Semi-Inclusive Deep Inelastic Scattering measurements until 2012. Chiral symmetry breaking: Current experimental status and prospects / Friedrich, Jan (Munich, Tech. U.) /COMPASS Collaboration
Chiral symmetry, linked to the smallness of the quark masses compared to the QCD bound states, and its breaking pattern are exploited in effective field theory to describe a multitude of phenomena by a few low-energy constants. Those concern light-meson dynamics and decays, their couplings to photons and meson-nucleon interactions. [...]
