"Probing 10 orders of magnitude of dark matter mass using CCDs : New results from DAMIC@SNOLAB and prospects for DAMICM"
/ Kilminster, Ben (speaker) (Universitaet Zuerich (CH))
The DAMIC (Dark Matter in CCDs) experiment uses CCD detectors to search for the direct interaction of galactic dark matter. Scientific CCD detectors provide an unprecedented low energy threshold and spatial resolution to probe for light dark matter. Given the current lack of evidence for a WIMP of mass around the weak scale, DAMIC focuses its search on lighter WIMPs, as well as the interaction of hiddensector photons that could mediate the interaction of DM or even comprise DM. The current experiment, DAMIC@SNOLAB pioneered the search for hiddenphoton interactions of DM and set worldleading constraints for lowmass WIMPs with a siliconbased target. The next experiment, DAMICM at LSM (Laboratoire Souterrain de Modane in France) will be sensitive to neverbefore probed potential DM models, covering a broad range of models spanning from eV to 10 TeV. In this talk, exciting new results from DAMIC@SNOLAB and prospects from DAMICM will be presented.

A practical introduction to quantum computing: from qubits to quantum machine learning and beyond
/ FernandezCombarro Alvarez, Elias (speaker) (Universidad de Oviedo (ES))
*** Webcast link at the bottom of the Indico page ***
General description of the course
Quantum computing is one the most promising new trends in information processing. In this course, we will introduce from scratch the basic concepts of the quantum circuit model (qubits, gates and measures) and use them to study some of the most important quantum algorithms and protocols, including those that can be implemented with a few qubits (BB84, quantum teleportation, superdense coding...) as well as those that require multiqubit systems (DeutschJozsa, Grover, Shor..) [...]

Recent Vector Boson Scattering results from CMS
/ Gomez Ceballos Retuerto, Guillelmo (speaker) (Massachusetts Inst. of Technology (US))
Vector boson scattering is a key production process to probe the electroweak symmetry breaking of the standard model, since it involves both selfcouplings of vector bosons and coupling with the Higgs boson. If the Higgs mechanism is not the sole source of electroweak symmetry breaking, the scattering amplitude deviates from the standard model prediction at high scattering energy [...]

Airborne Transmission of COVID19 – Measures to be taken indoors
/ Henriques, Andre (speaker) (CERN) ; ForkelWirth, Doris (speaker) (CERN)
Abstract:
Since the beginning of the COVID19 pandemic, many scientists and engineers have raised awareness with the scientific community on the possibility of airborne transmission of the SARSCoV2 virus in closed spaces.
From the beginning, the COVIDrelated Health & Safety measures at CERN were not only based on the Host States’ instructions and WHO guidance, but also included the possibility of airborne transmission in closed spaces, despite the fact that at the time the risk of airborne transmission in public settings wasn’t fully recognized.
Nowadays, with more data on the virus and the acknowledgement of this risk by the scientific community, advisory bodies and governmental agencies, we can use this new information to better prepare our workplaces by taking into account this particular mode of transmission. This is especially important during the winter period [...]

Measurement of $Br(K^+ \rightarrow \pi^+ \nu \bar{\nu})$ with the NA62 experiment at CERN SPS
/ Brizioli, Francesco (speaker) (Universita e INFN, Perugia (IT))
The decay $K^{+} \rightarrow \pi^{+} \nu \bar{\nu}$, with a very precisely predicted branching ratio of less than $10^{10}$, is one of the best candidates to reveal indirect effects of new physics at the highest mass scales. The NA62 experiment at CERN SPS is designed to measure $Br(K^{+} \rightarrow \pi^{+} \nu \bar{\nu})$ with a decayinflight technique, novel for this channel [...]
