 High frequency response of thick REBCO coated conductors in the framework of the FCC study / Romanov, Artur (CSIC, Catalunya) ; Krkotić, Patrick (CELLS - ALBA, LLS ; Barcelona, Polytechnic U.) ; Telles, Guilherme (CSIC, Catalunya) ; O'Callaghan, Joan (Barcelona, Polytechnic U.) ; Pont, Montse (CELLS - ALBA, LLS) ; Perez, Francis (CELLS - ALBA, LLS) ; Granados, Xavier (CSIC, Catalunya) ; Calatroni, Sergio (CERN) ; Puig, Teresa (CSIC, Catalunya) ; Gutierrez, Joffre (CSIC, Catalunya) A thorough microwave response study of high temperature superconductors, considered as an alternative beam screen coating, has become integral in the design decisions for CERN’s future research infrastructure. Here, we present the surface resistance $R_{s}$ of various $\text {REBa}_{2}\text {Cu}_{3}\text {O}_{7-x}$ (RE = rare earth) coated conductors available in large scale as a function of magnetic field in a broad temperature range measured by a Hakki–Coleman type resonator with resonant frequency $\nu \approx {8}\,{\text {GHz}}$. FCC-ee interaction region backgrounds / Voutsinas, G (CERN) ; Elsener, K (CERN) ; Janot, P (CERN) ; El Khechen, D (CERN) ; Kolano, A (CERN) ; Leogrande, E (CERN) ; Perez, E F (CERN) ; Tehrani, N A (CERN) ; Viazlo, O (CERN) ; Boscolo, M (Frascati) et al. The FCC-ee machine induced backgrounds on the two proposed detectors (CLD and IDEA) have been studied in detail. Synchrotron Radiation (SR) considerations dictate the Interaction Region (IR) optimization. [...] 2020 - 7 p. - Published in : Int. J. Mod. Phys. A 35 (2020) 2041009

 Global electroweak fit in the FCC-ee era / Erler, J (Mexico U. ; U. Mainz, PRISMA) ; Schott, M (U. Mainz, PRISMA) The top quark and Higgs boson masses have been predicted before their respective discoveries by the global fit of the Standard Model to electroweak precision data. With the Higgs boson discovery and the measurement of its mass, the last missing parameter of the Standard Model has been fixed and thus the internal consistency of the Standard Model can be probed at a new level by comparing direct measurements with the indirect predictions of the global electroweak fit.  Helical beam screen for the Future Circular Collider for hadrons injection kicker magnets / Chmielińska, A (CERN ; Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Barnes, M J (CERN) The Future Circular Collider for hadrons (FCC-hh) is the proposed high-energy frontier particle collider, which is expected to enable proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 100 TeV. The specifications for the FCC-hh injection kicker system are very challenging. [...] 2020 - 20 p. - Published in : Phys. Rev. Accel. Beams 23 (2020) 041002 Fulltext from Publisher: PDF;

 Beam induced vacuum effects in the future circular hadron collider beam vacuum chamber / Bellafont, I (CELLS - ALBA, LLS ; CERN) ; Mether, L (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne ; CERN) ; Kersevan, R (CERN) ; Malyshev, O B (Daresbury) ; Baglin, V (CERN) ; Chiggiato, P (CERN) ; Pérez, F (CELLS - ALBA, LLS) EuroCirCol is a conceptual design study of a post-LHC, Future Circular Hadron Collider (FCC-hh) with 50 TeV of beam energy and 100 km long, which aims to expand the current energy and luminosity frontiers. The vacuum chamber of the FCC-hh will have to cope with unprecedented levels of synchrotron radiation power for proton colliders, dealing simultaneously with a tighter magnet aperture. A framework and goals for FCC-hh physics studies at Snowmass 2021 / Helsens, Clement (CERN) ; Mangano, Michelangelo (CERN) ; Selvaggi, Michele (CERN) We summarize the key results obtained by physics studies carried out for the FCC-hh Conceptual Design Report, documenting the existing tools and software framework that were developed. Indications are provided for further work, on physics performance and simulation software development, which could be a target for Snowmass 2021 studies of a pp collider at 100~TeV. Requirements from physics for the FCC-hh detector design / Selvaggi, Michele (CERN) ; Mangano, Michelangelo (CERN) ; Helsens, Clement (CERN) This note addresses the requirements that should satisfy a detector operating in the FCC-hh environment in order to maximise its physics potential. Such a detector will operate in challenging conditions, and will be required to respond optimally in a wide energy range to fulfil a physics programme ranging from the electro-weak scale to the multi-tens of TeV energy frontier. Future Circular Collider beam screen: progress on Tl-1223 HTS coating / Leveratto, A (Genoa U.) ; Saba, A (Genoa U. ; Genoa U.) ; Holleis, S (Vienna, Tech. U., Atominst.) ; Himmerlich, M (CERN) ; Henrist, B (CERN) ; Fernandez-Peña, S (CERN) ; Moros, A (Vienna U.) ; Bernardi, J (Vienna U.) ; Eisterer, M (Vienna, Tech. U., Atominst.) ; Bernini, C (Genoa U.) et al. Thallium-1223, a superconductor with high critical temperature (T c ∼ 120 K) and high irreversibility line is a promising alternative to copper layers as a low surface impedance material in particle accelerator components. In the existing design of the Future Circular Collider (FCC-hh), for reasons of cryogenic efficiency and vacuum stability, the beam screen that shields the dipoles from synchrotron radiation has to stay at best in the temperature range between 40 and 60 K, in which copper surface resistance might be too high to prevent beam instabilities due to wakefields.
