STANDING CONCERTATION COMMMITTEE

The main items discussed at the meetings of the Standing Concertation Committee on 27 February 2008 included:

Short-term Saved Leave Scheme

The committee noted that, by the end of February 2008, some 600 staff had subscribed to the short-term saved leave scheme: approx 58% had subscribed 1 slice, 14% two slices, 5% three slices and 23% four slices.

Administrative Circular No. 4 (Rev. 4) - Unemployment Insurance Scheme

The committee agreed to recommend Administrative Circular No. 4 (Rev. 4) - Unemployment Insurance Scheme to the Director-General for approval.

Administrative Circular No. 30 (Rev. 2) - Financial benefits upon taking up appointment and termination of contract

The committee agreed to recommend Administrative Circular No. 30 (Rev. 2) - Financial Benefits upon taking up appointment and termination of contract to the Director-General for approval.

Progressive Retirement Programme

The Progressive Retirement Programme (PRP) was extended for a further year to 31 March 2009. Further details of the Programme are available at:

Merit Recognition exercise 2008 (MARS)

In the context of the Merit Appraisal and Recognition Scheme (MARS), the committee took note of the MARS guidelines for 2008 as well as the advancement ceilings per career path and the Awards for Exceptional Service. The committee also noted the MARS timetable, Frequently Asked Questions and the Guidelines for Senior Staff Advancement 2008.

LHC Achievement Awards

It was agreed that further discussions would be held concerning the distribution of LHC achievement awards.

Gate C

At the request of the Staff Association, the Management agreed to consider extending opening hours at Gate C during the roadworks in Meyrin if this proves the most reasonable way of avoiding major problems for traffic to and from CERN.

Internal taxation

It was noted that the internal tax scales had been modified to take account of the fact that contributions to the health insurance and pension contributions will no longer be deducted from taxable income.

Alcohol abuse

It was agreed that measures will be taken to promote awareness of the need to prevent alcohol abuse in the workplace and on the road.
