Accelerator and Technical Sector Seminar
Utilisation of Robot and Remote-Controlled Machine Technology for the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake and Accident of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, by Professor Hajime Asama, School of Engineering, Department of Precision Engineering, the University of Tokyo, Japan.
Abstract:
The Great Eastern Japan Earthquake and Tsunami occurred on 11 March 2011, and the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant occurred due to the earthquake and the tsunami. There has been much need for remote-controlled machine technology including robot technology (RT) for the response to the disaster and the accident. In this presentation, the speaker will present how these technologies have been utilised in the emergent situation so far and how they are expected to be used as middle-range and long-range measures towards decommissioning and future preparation against possible disasters and accidents.
Thursday, 29 March 2012, at 11:00 hrs – Kjell Johnsen Auditorium (bldg. 30).
