The Time Projection Chamber, which forms the central core of the ALEPH detector being prepared for experiments at LEP, needed temporary protection while awaiting arrival of the final sectors. Some coloured plastic panels were used, giving this stained glass window effect. The chamber is 3.6 metres in diameter and 4.4 metres long and will give very precise measurements of the properties of the particles emerging from the LEP collisions.
